I've been getting these terrible headaches lately...to the point where I can't see straight and can't concentrate on anything. Last night I had a really bad episode. I had a headache so bad I was throwing up... My life is relatively stress free and I'm a healthy vegetarian...what could be going on?
are you sure you are getting proper B-12 levels? If you are relying on suppliments for B-12, make sure that it is not from an algae or spirolina source. That cobalt compound mimics B-12, but is not bioavailable. It is suspected that it can block B-12 absorption. If you eat lots of good organic produce, and you do not wash your veggies too much, you will get some B-12 from the soil bacteria. How about an occasional bite of bambi, one of my favorite B-12 sources. Seriously, this is usually an issue that any strict vegetarian usually pays close attention to. Assuming that B-12 is not the problem, have you introduced any new cleaning or laundry products that might contain a compound to which you may be sensitive? One last point... One extreme, but effective treatment for vascular headaches (most of what folks call migraines)....... Take one dried habanero pepper, rub a toothpick on the webbing of the pepper, then rub the toothpick inside your nostrils (both sides). Prepare for a new understanding of pain! The vaso-dilator properties of the capsascin, seem to reset things, and in about 5-10 minutes, you have completely cleansed every system in your head and usually the headache is gone too. Even if the headache remains, the endorphin buzz numbs any remaining pain for a while regardless. Sounds nuts, but if you have serious headaches, it can be well worth the temporary agony. Jim
maybe vitamins maybe you might need glasses - go and get your eyes checked my mum has them and the docs still dont know why!!!! if they carry on go and see the doctors. But get ur eyes checked
I get bad migraines where I throw up and get tunnel vision or flashing lights so I can't see. I also get a numb tongue or hand- wierd! i just have to sleep all day! Anyhow I have got them pretty much under control now since i've worked out whats caused them. For me its strobe lighting, flashing lights, citrus fruits, fruit juice, too much stress. Also when I took the pill my migraines increased to one every two weeks. Have you just started any new birth control? As that may cause them. Have you been eating anything different lately, any new foods? Common foods that trigger bad headaches and migraines are red wine, citrus fruits, chocolate, and cheese but it varies with different people. Disruption of sleep patterns can also trigger them. Hormonal changes can also cause them. Also i know it sounds wierd but sudden changes in temperature can trigger them aswell! Hope this helps and hope you feel better soon!
a habanero pepper up the nose?!? hahaha... I don't doubt, but damn! Seriously though, if you can't figure out what's causing it, start a migraine diary... everything you can think of should be written down before the migraine started, and hopefully some common triggers will show up.
could be the start of migranes~ i never had a headache in my life up untill i turned 24 and i began getting migranes every month....and now sometimes once a week....every month ATLEAST. its really horrible. a doctor told me that when you get into your early twenties your body chemistry changes and some people (women are more prone) begin to get migranes even if they've never had them before. keep a journel of your headaches and see if they are menstrual related - if so going on BC may help (unless you are on already).
Well I haven't changed my bc pills. In fact, I've been on the same kind for almost four years now. I have glasses/contacts and just got my eyes checked about three months ago...so I know it can't be my eyes... B-12 could be the cause...I'll look into it.
Good call HippyLandscaoer. It would not hurt to see a good chiropractor. If your neck is out of whack, that can definitely lead to headaches.
Sounds like a migraine to me. I have it myself (I have nearly permanent headaches, almost each day) and every female in my family has it. Theres no working medication for it, stress can cause it, stressfree-ness can cause it, a change in food can, anything can really so its hard to avoid aswell. Maybe see a doctor and have it checked? If its a migraine you might need really strong painkillers (my mother has them), or try to bear it. I hope for you its something else thats easily cureable. Goodluck with it.
No, strong pain killers is no way to deal with migraines! Chinese medicine can help where western medicine is clueless. Don't bother with a doctor they have nothing for you but bullshit and harmful drugs that do not fix the problem. Try accupuncture, herbalism, chiropracic medicine, but for Goddess sake do not get on pain killers. They destroy the body starting with the filtration organs. Jim
