not nearly as much as i should. partly because i have lots of crap to do and i have a really nice clarinet and i just cant put it in my locker and haul it on the bus every day (im very protective of it). so on the weekends usually for about 2-4 hours.
Two questions. First of all, what's wrong with practising at home in the evenings? Secondly, how do you get your clarinet to school to play in ensembles?
I'm not forced to practise. I found I practised very little when it was a chore. I have since changed teachers and play about an hour a day, for recreation.
i leave it in my band locker at school, and if your talking to me about the first question theres nothing wrong with it(i wish i could do it more), its just a pain to bring home every day.
I used to practice all the time with my old band, which was an all improv band. Those practices would easily go into 4 or 5 hours. We were sort of a blues/funk/rock jam band sort of thing. I definitely haven't heard anything like us since. But since then, we have departed ways, and now I practice whenever I feel like playing. It's usually 2-3 hours a day. I should really spend my time learning more theory and chords and such, though.
Pffff. I can't stand LEARNING theory and chords. Scales haunt me. The whole theory thing is beyond me. I figure I learn all of that through the recreational playing, and such.
Well good luck becoming a virtuoso then. If you can't be bothered to work at a skill, you'll never master it.
Eh, I don't plan to try to become a virtuoso of guitar. I just want to play what I want to play. I don't wanna get all Steve Vai and Joe Satriani on everyone.
It depends on my mood. Some times I don't touch my pretty little acoustic at all. Some days I play most of the day. Usually I get in at least a half hour of playing time in, although usually more. ~Layla
I never have a set time, I usually just stop when I have something else which requires me to stop, which is pretty much anything. But I usually just jam on my drums like a jazz solo and maybe switch to anything, like perhaps a groovy kind of beat or just a silly instrumental.
i average an hour or so a day. some days i dont play at all, some days for just a little bit, but usually once or twice a week well have a 3 or 4 hour jam.
i play my guitar as much as i can.......but i dnt sit there and go i need to learn this i just play w/e and if i have the erg to learn something i do...but i average around 2-3 hours daily sometimes more sometimes less depending on the day
now that i'm in school.....i have to practice alot. alot of music theory and sound theory to be studied. hours a day.....but not today. today was my day.
Since I stopped smoking weed I play alot more...About 3-4 hours a day sometimes more...Don't let the herb come before your axe!
