When I first came to the music forum I aint seen a blues section, and boy is that a pity.I can't believe that B.S. After all those kind of hippie bands that some of ya'll like there aint no blues. Jimi Hendrix grew up listening to Robert Johnson,Bessie Smith & Blind Lemon Jefferson and all them fellas & gals. .And played songs after John Lee Hooker & Muddy Waters, then played with Buddy Guy,and there ain't no blues section. The song 'Ball & Chain' made famous by Janis Joplin was originally recorded by Big Mama Thornton. .and there is no blues section.
Led Zeppelin's frontman Robert Plant was an avid Robert Johnson fan,and blues fan. .and often would insult the old blues artists by making old blues songs into famous rock songs and get rich off of them . .and there is no blues section.

And so would Eric Clapton of Cream be inspired by Robert Johnson & get rich by making old blues songs into famous rock songs. .without the public realizing it was once blues. .and there is no blues section.
But at least I can credit Clapton for returning to the blues in his later years. The Yardbirds, have recorded such songs with 'Howlin' Wolf' 'Sonny Boy Williamson' and Hook. .and yet there is no blues section. .

I think that is a doggone shame. .There's country!!! And jazz section here,JAZZ!!!??!! Which came AFTER the blues. .And yet there is no blues section here.. .

Anybody like the blues. . .

You don't get it. .And I can totally understand that. Lots of people don't ''get it'' especially about the blues. *Cough* Umm, ryhthm & blues is not exactly the blues. In fact,IT AINT THE BLUES. But, I'll just exuse your ignorance.

Exactly. And also no jazz. .But more importantly blues, but country also came from the blues. .

As to quote Willie Dixon, ''The blues is the roots, everything else is the fruits.''

If there's a blues & jazz section, it refuses to be seen. I surely did not spot it.

see, this is the problem with categorizing music, and which I griped about once we split the forums up. there are going to be complaints and disputes...... there are so many different categories of music, it would take up pages and pages of space. just post your blues stuff in the rhythm and blues section, you dont need to be fuckin technical about it.....

we might as well put a new category for every band that is mentioned in here more than once too.........

I totally agree! People get so fucking pedantic about it all... That's why I never liked all the sub-categories...

I think that because the OP was so damn mean to people in both her threads that we should not add blues to R&B.
which is a diff genre, but then would we have to have Memphis Blues, Chicago Blues, walking blues, talking blues? prison blues, red white and blues, indigo blues, faded blues, eyes of blue, blue jello and blue meanies?

When you got a punk section on a hipforum (dont get me wrong, I love punk, NOFX :) ) THERE MUST BE A BLUES SECTION! Its true thats music is not a thing you chop apart and see what dice you like most. But when you do (or try to) just DONT leave blues out! Its like ripping a guitar apart to see what part is the most important and leave the strings out.........*sigh*
