the answer to this will definitely vary, but as a ballpark figure, could youtell me APPROXIMATELY how much one half ounce (around 14 grams) of magic mushrooms would be? i'm trying to figure out if i got ripped off. thank you
about 100USD here. but it depends on location, species, and dealer. i refuse to buy for anything over 10-20 bucks an eighth, though. i have only bought shrooms maybe twice in my life, all other times i've gone for growing.
hnmmm... i live in BC, canada, and i'm friends with the guy who sold them to me so he said he was giving me a deal but i wasn't all that sure. Anyway, i paid 40 bucks for what he said was half an ounce... maybe it's not half an ounce then because that seems fairly cheap. they came in a ziploc sandwich sized bag and the bag was about half or almost three quarters full... but the thing is, it's practically ALL stems (there were like 2 small caps).. and aren't stems like not all that great?? meh.. i don't know anything.
Stems and caps are equally potent. Are they wet (fresh) or dry? 14 grams wet is not much, but 14 grams dry for a mushroom novice is a lot, enough for quite a few experiences most likely. Good price I might add, but figures lol the location.
Acctually caps are more potent than the stems Morphological and chemical analysis of magic mushrooms in Japan. "The psilocin/psilocybin contents in P. cubensis were in the range of 0.17–0.78%/0.44–1.35% in the cap and 0.09–0.30%/0.05–1.27% in the stem. Hallucinogenic alkaloids (psilocin and psilocybin) have a tendency to be contained in the cap more than the stem. Our results are in agreement with the findings of Wurst et al. [8] who found lower concentrations of psilocybin in the stem than in the cap of the hallucinogenic fungus, Psilocybe bohemica. P. cubensis samples also had a tendency to contain larger amounts of psilocybin than psilocin. This tendency is consistent with results reported by Bigwood and Beug" So they are about 30% more potent.
Well it is says it is MOST LIKELY for them to be like that. There are still those freaks out there. They used Psilocybe bohemica. and P. cubensis
The stems will still make you trip I never denied that.... but SCIENTIFIC studies show that the caps on average are more potent. If you feel like you can prove me wronge please go find a source.
caps more potent if dried upside down other wise i will eat the stems ....directly under the cap where it becomes the most purple ....yummy
I mean the other guy had some scientific proof. Kind of sounds outlandish to say the caps will be more potent if dried upside down?
Maybe if the mushroom had liquid insides you would be right, but they have cells which don't allow most things to "sink" with gravity. Purple/blue will indicate that there is psilo chemicals in it. If anything it would be less potent b/c it means the actives have oxidized.
there's no point in trying to prove you wrong. what's important here is not the "fact" that caps may be slightly more potent by weight than stems. Rather, years and years of cultivation and tripping have led mushroom growers to agree that the stem/cap potency controversy is a worthless argument. in other words, people should just eat them and not worry about certain parts of the mushrooms being stronger.
I wasn't saying you should worry. Just stating the fact that they are. I try to stop the spread of misinformation on any topic that I think I can. Stems can rock your world that is for sure.
No they wont... Please prove me wronge with a credible source. It is like saying the lower buds of pot will be more pottent than the top buds... IT JUST WONT HAPPEN
noone said it happens due to gravity. It happens just because the cells in that location produce more of it. Same reason only skin cell produce melanin(sp) the pigment in human skin. By your argument if chemicals must be produced evenly across organisms and gravity is the only mechanism by which they can be distributed unevenly accross one then even human muscle tissue would be skin coloured
