ok............I quit smoking. I did it! I used the patch and to my surprise it worked very well. But now I am addicted to the patch! I used it just like it instructed, taking my nicotiene level to even less than the lightest patch (step 3, last step....I cut those in half). But now I cannot function without it. Well, I can, but I turn into MEGABITCH. I dont know what to do. I heard about a guy once that was addicted to the gum for 9 months! Has this happened to anyone else? I dont want to go back to smoking and these patches are too expensive to buy anymore, but I cant stand when I dont have one on. What do you suggest I do about this?
    Thanks........signed, Megabitch.;)

smoke some herb...I quit 4 months ago (smoked 1-2 packs a day for 11 years.) I used the patch for the first 4 days and nothing after that. I did smoke alot more pot for the first couple of months but now I'm back to my norm. It helps to smoke something and to feel that drag of something in the back of your throat. Anyhow that really helped me. Another idea...really make yourself believe that it's all in your head. You are using such a small amount (with 1/2 of a patch daily) your withdrawls should be minimal. Just talk your self through it.....You really can do it.

    Good luck,
    Dawn

I've never used the patch, but as far as the gum being addictive, I can attest to that. I was weird. It burned my mouth, but I had to have it. Worse than a cigarette craving I think.

Have you tried Welbutrin or whatever it is? That helped quite a few people I know.

I think what the poster above said is correct though. Sounds like at this point it is all in your head. Try meditating (right where you are) when you feel like you want to smoke or you feel "bitchy". Maybe try using a bandaid or something instead of the patch to trick yourself into thinking you are wearing one. Maybe cut it even smaller? I don't know if you can do that.

I'm not so sure smoking pot will work. That usually makes me want to smoke a cig. But everyone is different.

i used the patch. honestly, what you need to do, is just stop wearing the patch.

the first couple days will be a little tough... just make sure you exercize, do breathing excercizes, stretch, etc.
