Hey friends! my name's Gavin, I'm an organic farmer living in Malibu, CA when I'm not at school in big old New York at Sarah Lawerence College. At any rate I spend about half my time in California and I am yet to hear about any rainbow gatherings or anything in the area! I checked welcomehere.org and didn't see any events happening around here anytime soon, even in California in general (Malibu is in the LA area by the beach). I would really love to share and connect, and am so down to drive a little, even. Anyone know of any rainbow happenings near me? I'd really appreciate it. be well and take it easy, Gav.
I heard a rumor about a hot springs gathering up north, but I have to check into it. Have you checked the SCROLL site at all? I have no clue when it was last updated, but there may be something there. Anyway, I'll keep you updated brotha :0)
Man, thanks a lot for helping out. I checked the SCROLL website, and there's a sad little message under the "LA area" section which says "not much going on", so I take that to mean that the rainbow is pretty quiet around these parts. However there was an email of a guy who seems to be the self-proclaimed source of LA area rainbowness, and I'ma send him an email and say hey. If you hear about anything, yeah, holler at me! My email is gpherson@slc.edu. take it easy friend, Gavin.
p.s. I hear there's a fun little concert tomorrow night with this band called the Big Organ Trio at a hollywoodish venue called "Hangar 1018". Maybe you heard this too?? Apparently 11 other bands are playing and it's only a few bucks. I googled the band and heard some samples of their music and I actually think it might be a cool show, but I mean, I'm totally going on a limb and just going regardless cause it sounds like a goodnatured nice time where I can dance around a little, and that's enough for me! Anyway I'll probably be there tomorrow! There's info on the show at jambase.com, which is where I heard about it. +g
Would that self-procliamed LA rainbow guy be Joji? Yeah, there really isn't much going on, but some new faces would be awsome on the scene right now. Big Organ Trio rocks! I'm on myspace, and so are they, I've heard a bit of thier music. There's a few other jam-ish bands around here too, I'll PM you a some links to myspace sites. I don't think I'm gonna go tommorow (I'm fairly sure I'll be recovering still from triptophane and sugar, lol) but if I change my mind I'll let you know. Also, there's a pretty cool drum circle in venice beach that gets a few kynd folks every now and then, especially if we call around and co-ordinate. love and light brotha :0) Molly
Hey Molly- yeah, actually, the guy's name IS Joji. What's his deal? Is he a good dude? I sent him an email last night so we'll see if he hollers back at me. I've heard of that drum circle; unfortunatly I leave Sunday for NY again so I guess I'll miss it, but I'll hit it up next time I'm here in three weeks for a month! of winter break. Awesome awesome. I'm stoaked about the Big Organ Trio, I'm glad to know you like them, that gives me more faith that this will be a fun show. By the way, what kind of music do you play? I'd love to hear. talk to you later, I'm off to the beach and then I have homework aaaalll daayy until this show, Gav
hey, theres stuff happening in northern cali every half year at least, in the mendocino/humbolt/shasta area. Outside of mt shasta and outside of weed are where they are normally held
man, thanks a lot! i'll check that out. any idea how i can get details sometime about it? is it all word-of-mouth? be well, Gavin
welcomehere.org is probably the best overall site for gathering info. If you look back in the March 2005 calendar you will see the wildflower gathering which is practically an annual event, and the June 2005 listing shows the West Coast regional.
