sure there is...get neotrace, it's an easy prog, just type the ip in and it'll show the node from which the ping originated

don't expect much though...the best you'll see is the users ip server...you can't find the end user unless the isp gives up that info

Ummm, not sure what you can do with the info but having
a ''firewall'' indicating the attacks is a start, obviously.
Your Firewall provider should have a tracking system, btw.
    If not try this
    http://arul.telenet-systems.com/track.html
But what are you going to do with the info, though.?
If you have a web site you can also track IP and loads of other info, too.
If you really want to know you can lure the attacker, if needs be.

    Hey,

Are you getting pop-up ads that are little message boxes where you have to click "OK"?

    Try doing this:

Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services and find Messenger Service and turn it off completely (disable and stop).

If you know their IP address, you can learn about where it is comming from by doing WHOIS or other searches against it on sites like: http://www.dnsstuff.com/ an IP address is rarely associated with a person though, as most people have dynamic ip addresses.

Usually they are just scanning your computer looking for open vulnerable ports. The firewall should block them. If you are being harassed by them, you can go to SamSpade.org and type in the IP in the IP Whois box. It will tell you the name of the ISP that uses that address. You can send them a complaint. The contact will be listed under abuse contact. However if they have malicious intent, the IP is usually spoofed or untraceable, or originating in the outer urbanian desert or something. Most of the scanning is done by your own ISP, and is just normal business. Even so you can still block it without repercussions. A good software firewall is ZoneAlarm which is free but a hardware firewall through a router is best.
