when i did it i did it commando style (rough)- i just got wide packing tape and just stuck the edges of the bubble wrap to the window edges, it can pull off some paint but in my case the window didn't look too hot anyway so it didn't matter.

i suppose if you want to neaten it up maybe think this

cut bubble to a rough shape of the window ,
(took a break there, some bees decided that they wanted to stay at my place)
get some double sided sticky tape and stick it on the window pane itself on the edges then put the bubble wrap onto the pane carefully in one motion from top to bottom, get someone to help you (?)
this way the bubble wrap is neat, is against the glass, flush with it and can be removed without removing any paint
(drumminmama is thinking - now he tells me!)
if you decide to neaten it up by trimming some bubble wrap off the edges remember don't take too much off, put something behind the bubble wrap as you cut to minimise damage to paint, don't get blade too close to your hand.

in your case a ladder will be handy or use some milk crates to make some make shift bench to stand on(as windows are close to ceiling)

What about more clothing? Such as tights, stockings, vests. Also remember two thin jumpers have insulation value that one thick one. Most important wool jumpers have much better insulation value than acrylic.

    uhhhhhhhhh...
that is one PART of the equation. I'm specifically asking about sealing in the power already used.
we are in layers, but the shower/ bathroom is still freaking cold.

I was thinking of black liners, as black will attract whatever passive solar might be around.. are the cheapie shower curtains thick enough?

check for drafts everywhere they're the biggest heat loss, use caulking where ever you can.

Hey! I was a landlord and sucked at it, got taken advantage of. To be in that buisness make money and keep your sanity you got to be a distant, rule book wielding, business person towards some people. If you don't have the time to get to know all your renters, treating everyone equally in this respect without trying to be a prick makes that line of work bearable.
