hey, i just got a tattoo about 2 weeks ago, it is a dark brown henna color. I put the antibacterial stuff on it that says to keep putting on for 2 weeks. Well since its been that long and the tattoo has healed well, what now? I saw some hemp tattoo balm at this herbal store and wondered if anyone had tried it and if i should use that now. I hear contradicting remarks about what to do after your tattoos healed, like keep it moist, so i just want to know if it would be a good idea to get something like the hemp balm to put on it after its healed just as maintenance. I just feel like i need to be doing something after the healing process is over to keep it nice.
Just use fragrance free Curel or Lubriderm. It's the safest thing to do. Apply a thin layer a couple times a day.
Ya the hemp stuff is great...the Dr. Bronners....but I think its more for after its totally healed and you want to add a little something to brighten it up ya know?
I don't know about hemp balm, but I got my tattoo on my ribcage touched up about a week ago, and it's past needing bag balm, so I'm putting lotion with hemp extract on it. It keeps it moisturized so well! ~Nova
It couldn't hurt, I always hated it when mine got to that scratchy, scabby stage and I had to use lotion. I used Aveeno lotion and this stuff called "Smith's Rosebud Salve" It's been around since 1892 and it's awesome. You can use it on your lips, boo-boos, even diaper rash!
Im getting another tattoo on Saturday! (woohoo) and last week when I was at the health food store I picked up some more of the Dr. Bronners Tat balm and I have a feeling Im going to love love love it on a newly done tat as much as I like using it on my old ones.
