we all really need each other. I was exploring that thought - you know like if you saw someone down on the train and you asked him what was wrong and he told you and you told him it will all pass, etc. - when this bigger lady and a small man almost got into a fist fight about holding the train doors It was a real shot back into reality. But seriously. It might sound cliche or just dumb, but imagine if everyone saw everyone as a friend. You could stike up a random conversation with anyone about anything. I'm sure most people could find at least a little common ground. Instead, people walk around drowing out their thoughts with their IPODS. Although it might lead to more infidelity...but anyway. I think if we all got along as a race, this place wouldn't be that bad at all. We could all make fun of our jobs, get advice about our relationships, etc. That's what I call an open society. That's one I would like to be part of. Life is too short for these train fights..
Who's Firend? My end isn't on fire? Had to add a grain of sarcasm there...otherwise people would think someone is using my user. BUT that was a nice post - the first one...
It wouldn't have to bee a small town type effect. How often do you see the same people over and over again (I live in the city, so maybe this would only work in place like that) I picture it more like talking to new people everyday... The people having up days would level out the people having down days...
Im probably talking about something more differently then you explained. I wouldnt want everyone in the real world to know my personal business and strangers asking me whats wrong... Ya know, like those small towns are havens for gossip, they know everyone and then everyone gets in your business..Know what i mean..and but in your life and I dont like that at all, but thats just me... Yeah, it would be great if everyone were polite or civil to one another, but thats just false hope... I enjoy meeting new people and take advantage of it each chance i get.. im talking more about if im going through something and some stranger came up to me and started asking me questions, i dont like that and that would probably piss me off just cause maybe i want to be left alone and not have some person who i dont even know coming up to me and asking me things like that.. But you probably werent talking about that, but blah blah blah im done now...
No one would want everyone in their personal lives... I meant more like casual small talk. Like if you're having a bad day someone could just try to make you laugh or whatever. Gossip sucks and I would never encourage it. And everyone needs their privacy. But that's a good point about not wanting people coming uo to you sometimes. I guess you would have to start by saying, "feel like talking" or something like that... But anyway. Only in a fiction book would such a thing be possible. People tend to be guarded, anti-social, and prejudice. Oh well...just another random thought.
To be honest I am a real guarded person and at times can be extremely anti-social..people mistake that for me just being a horrible person. Ive had run-ins with people and to tell you the truth, dont really care for most of them. Horrible, huh? Not really, its in this day and age it is extremely hard to trust anyone cause of all the freaking nutjobs and crazy people out there.. You see it on the news every day.. Im just a real guarded person and dont talk to people I dont know at all that much.. I guess though, its more of a gut feeling, if my gut feeling starts acting up then I dont even go near the people... This is just how I personally am...
sounds like you must have been through a lot to become so cynicial... But I would never base anything on the news. They are out to make dramatic headlines. They don't report on normal people. Watching the new is like watching the bad parts of society under a microscope. Hopefully things will balance out for you and you'll know good things from now on...
I dont need to really watch the news to know there are nutjobs and crazies out there.. Im not talking about E! news, im talking about real news, like the news paper and such, (not Hollywood news, thats my friend is call media..not news) ...where some kid gets shot cause he eggs someones car, where I get followed home because some nutjob thinks I cut him off and follows me all the home to badger me into apologizing to him..They are everywhere.. Im not going to blind myself and think that every tom, dick and harry I meet is completely normal when they have someone hidden in their crawl space. I dont really think there is anything wrong with me or the way I think personally. Just cause I dont like strangers and dont trust the whole population of the world doesnt mean I am in the wrong and what you think doesnt make you in the wrong either.. We just are two different people who think differently, and I dont think im cynical at all...
okay. point well taken. I was, though, talking about the every day news. There are billions of people on the planet and they report on what 10 a day? That's hardly a fair sampling. And remember, they want to plug their news spots with dramatic sounding headlines and stories. But I agree with everything else you said, pretty much. You are definitely entitled to your way of thinking. And if you don't think you're cynical, you probably aren't. You know yourself better than anyone else. It's hard to judge someone off of a forum, so that was a mistake. But then again, everything is relative. What is optimistic to one person can be considered cynical to another.
