So on Friday of this past week after much debating between me and my mom we decided to go to the plastic surgeon about my breasts. For a long time now my breasts have been growing too much and causing me problems.

We got a doctor reccomended to us through our family practice doctor. He's very board certified in the area of breasts but has only been in practice for 5 years. He's 32(relatively young) and kind of cheesy. He's not very professional when it comes to his work ethic but he has a great portfolio. I felt very comfortable with him from the start. Well he did the exam, all the embarrassing measuring and said that I don't need a reduction after all but that I most likely need an implant of some sort. Apparently the size isn't the problem but the shape of my breasts.

I'm sorry but how would my life be easier as a DDD or E(DD now). I'm 17 and very active and having cantalopes on my chest is not going to make me swim faster. I just can't imagine putting silicone in my body. My mom is outraged by this and I honestly don't know how I feel. I know we have another appointment with another doctor next week, but at this point I don't care anymore.

Am I the only one that find this a little weird?

Jesus... time to find another doctor to do the surgery. One who will listen to your concerns and recommend something that's practical as a solution, not something that does the complete opposite of what you want.

ALWAYS get a second opinon....and if you still arent completley comfortable with that then get a third. never do allow a doctor to push you into doing something you arent comfortable with and if you feel weird about this doc then thats your intuition telling you something.

my sister wants a breast reduction as well but she hasnt looked into it yet. she's 18.

Thank you! It's so hard because I live in a small town to find a reputable doctor. If we can't find someone close we aren't ruling out going a lot farther if we have to(maybe NY). My sister was very much scarred by her experience when she had the surgery done(at 16), that to me and my family all aspects are important. We want a nice doctor with good work AND who agrees with what we think is best for me. Our insurance will only cover one breast, but it'll be best to have both done. If we're spending $10,000 out of pocket for my health I think it's safe to assume we want the best we can get.

A friend of mine was in a similar situation. I think she might have even worn size E. She was very athletic in high school and had to wear several different sports bras at once just for enough support. Two months after we graduated, she had a very successful breast reduction surgery.

Like the others said, I would get several different opinions. My friend was lucky because her father was a doctor and he knew several plastic surgeons. Do not settle until you find the one that's right for you. And good luck!

yeah i had a friend who at 16 wanted lipo suction (her mother was going to let her get it) and she was 5'3 and only weighed 130lbs! maybe not her ideal weight but not enough to do something as extreme as surgery and i told her so but she was adament. her mother took her to the doctor for a consol and this doctor said "YOU want plastic surgery?????!!!! .......well ok sure heres how much, etc...." and even went so far as to make an appt. now any GOOD doctor would have refused to do such major surgery on someone who obviously didnt really need it. luckily she realized what a stupid move that was and canceled it and actually lost like 15 lbs on her own that month and spent the surgery money on a new car. all doctors are not trustworthy.

Definitely a second opinion. That just sounds too weird. It seems to me it doesn't matter what shape your boobs are, if they are too heavy, they are too heavy. Weight doesn't decrease with shape!
