I don't watch much TV, and even less MTV, but last I noticed they didn't seem to have much music on at all. MTV has done its damage, but I would also blame corporate radio and big money.
"We used to have a way to stick it to the man... it was called rock n' roll. But the Man ruined that too, with a little thing called MTV!!" - Jack Black from School of Rock I agree, MTV just sucks (except, Viva la Bam is its one saving grace, to me). But it's more an instrument of... well, the Man than being the #1 enemy itself.
It's too late, champ. Just focus your energy trying to teach our children how to rock so that the next generation won't be so bad.
I agree that the majority of music lately is shit but there is still small percentage of quality meaningful music
dudes, just chuck your tv's out the window and go to live gigs, it's much more fulfilling... Rawk on!!! Jaz
i still like to watch beavis and butthead occasionally. it reminds me of when i was just a little kid and when i used to watch mtv everyday. b&b was one of my favourite programs back then.
yer.. i stil watch mtv.. mtv cant ruin music, there not the ones making the records. mtv's just doing thier thing. and i kinda respect the person who owns it for making a living for him/herself and being successful. yer... some parts of music isnt as good as it was in the earlier years but thats basically because of the talent. *peace out*xx
how did they reuin it if they dont even make the music they play on there network? they just play the reuined rock...they didnt do the reuining
The reason the music companies continue producing the kind of music we have today is people keep buying it and it is profitable. Economics dictate if people quit purchasing the plastic little-talented acts such as Madonna, Brittany Spears, et al, the music company would be forced to cut loose these acts and promote something else. I'm only guessing, but it seems the life span of big acts is about 4-5 years. Only a little longer the average kid is in High School. The kid gets a little older, preferences change; he/she doesn't listen to the same kind of music they did when they were 12-14 years old. Its one thing to dress like Brittany Spear while 12-14, but after 5 years or so, it gets a little old and tiredsome.
