I'm really into the music from the early 60's to mid 70's and some other stuff besides. What I'm looking for is some good music that I've yet to be introduced to. Most everything I like my mom got me into when I was just a kid maybe 5 or so, I remember listening to her old Doors records and Stones, Rush, Zeppelin, Beatles, Airplane, and many others and I loved it even though I didn't have an inkling of what most of them were talking about. So basically I'm going to list what I've got on my playlist and some others that I like and am hoping some enlightened soul comes by and adds to it. Doors, Beatles, The Who, Rush, Buffalo Springfield, Eric Clapton, Cream, Tom Petty, The Animals, Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, Bob Seagar (spelling might be off as I'm lazy), Creedence Clearwater Revival (I put CCR and some people look at me funny), Five Man Electrical Band, Guns N' Roses, Jefferson Airplane, Janis Joplin, Hendrix, Zeppelin, Lynard Skynard, Neil Young, Pink Floyd, The Proclaimers (though "I would walk 500 miles" is the only song of thiers I know), Rolling Stones, Simon And Garfunkel, Steppenwolf, Uriah Heep, Steve Miller Band, Thunderclap Newman, and The Guess Who. Now I probably left a few out, but any suggestions are welcome. And yes I realize some of these bands aren't from the aforementioned time frame but I ain't very picky unless it's hip-hop or rap....though there are even a few of those I don't mind. And not being alive back then and all I am sure there are alot of bands I've never heard of. Anyways....Thanks for hearing me out
oh gosh there is so much. I have 9500 songs...a lot of that 9500 is from 1967-1976! Lots of obscure stuff even. Gimmie one genre and I will elaborate for you..folk rock, psych, hard rock, prog rock, space..ect! just gimmie some kinda general genre cos I would be here all day if I just went off in the period of time you want! than if you still want more after genre #1 i can continue..or you can private message me..but seriously, i have loads of music from all sorts of genres most people didn't know existed from the golden age of rock n roll.
Allman Brothers Band - Whipping Post,Midnight Rider,Dreams,Blue Sky Wishbone Ash - Sometime World,Blowin' Free,The Pilgrim,Jailbait bands like Humble Pie,Free,Flying Burrito Brothers,Leon Russel,Joe Cocker (Mad Dogs and the Englishmen), and Byrds would also fit nicely on your list
I knew I forgot some, Fleetwood and America I love, especcially Horse with no Name, and ironically enough I just got some Grateful Dead last, my mom told me to lol....she's awesome. And Carl how bout we start with psych
Late 60s and early 70s psych: Okay, I am going to assume you are familiar with the obvious. -The "Pretty Things" are a very important psych band and are the most under rated of the late 60s. SF Sorrow was the first rock opera, not Tommy (beating the who by a year)! Done in 1968, it is a very psychadelic album. -The 13th floor elevators "Easter Everywhere" and "The Psychedelic sounds of...." are the two worth while albums to check out with memorable songs such as Roller Coaster, Slip Inside this house and a cover of bob dylans baby blue. -"Volume 1" by the Soft Machine is one of their only psych albums but it comparable to early floyd in talent and success. -Family next who were huge in england. Just get past the sometimes sub par vocals and there is much to love in their prog/blues/psych approach. -Love is very talented. but had a lot of turmoil and thus a short career. -For some psych with harmony (boardering on pop-psych) check out The End. -H.P. Lovecraft is a blend of folk and psych with interesting lyrics. -Tomorrow is a lost classic, their self titled and only album coming out in 1968. -Once you are done exploring the dead and jefferson airplane, "Quicksilver messenger service" is the next logical step in the San Francisco scean. and are said by some to be the best san francisco band. I personally think they measure up to the dead and airplane. -If you like Syd Barret (another psych staple) than Alexander 'Skip' Spence is Canada's anwser. -While on the subject of Skip Spence, check out the band he was in, Moby Grape and their self titled album -Don Robertson is psych with a lot of sitar and various other eastern influnces. Very good! -The same can be said for Bobby Callender. -the yardbirds were largely blues and rock n roll with a little psych -If you like Steve Hillage check out the band he was in briefly in 1969, Arzachel. Recorded in one day, it was a classic nonetheless. -Mcchurch soundroom is largely a classic with a weak drum solo bringing it down in "Dream Of A Drummer". Besides that it is a nice blend of psych and blues. -A few members from zz top got their start in a psych/blues band by the name of "The Moving Sidewalks." An obscure gem is the cd "flash" -The seeds are a very raw band with a swagger comparable to the stones. -For some hard rock styled psych check out Germany's My Solid Ground. They did only one album in 1971. -For a darker psych album, music machine will be right up your alley. I have their greatest hits. -Quill played at woodstock but never made anything of it and have one album in 1970 to show for it with a very unique take on psych. -Pacific Gas & Electric is largely blues rock with some pysch leanings (being a late 60s cali band, they were obviously influenced by the san fran sound it would seem) -If you want strong female vocals and jazz tendencies with your psych than Affinity is your band, check out their self titled. -After Tea is a bluesy/psych band from the netherlands. Their album "jointhouse blues" is an obscure classic. Culpepers orchard is another rare psych band from the netherlands. -If you'd like to delve deep into the world of psych, Tea And Symphony and their debut album An Asylum For The Musically Insane is a good prog/psych album done in 1969. - I don't know much of San Ul Lim besides the fact that they are good korean psych in the early 70s. others: The Chocolate Watchband, mexican psych band Ernan roch con las voces frescas, The Blues Project (who used blues as a foundation to explore many different genres, largely psych and noise). Pearls before swine is one last band to check. - I don't know much of Captain beefheart but from what I have heard he is everchenging in his styles but it seems psych is the foundation dabbling in blues, avante garde, ect.
"All I can suggest is ? and the Mysterians, but I know that it is hard to find music by them." yah i can't even find stuff by them and i have 70s rock from the Philippines, korea, uruguay, Romania, Turkmenistan, ect...maybe a testament to their obscurity?
Do you want something from 96 Tears Forever: The Dallas Reunion Tapes or from the More American Graffiti LP?
Meh, can't sort out the albums ATM (too drunk). Here's my tracklist, can sort out with album info, and upload for distribution tomorrow if need be: 96 Tears 96 Tears (unedited) Can't Get Enough of You Baby Do You Feel It Girl (You Captivate Me) Hangin' on a String I Fought the Law and the Law Won I Need Somebody Sally Go Round the Roses Sha La La Stormy Monday You're Telling Me Lies
yardbirds went by with one sentence?! This band had as its guitar player Zeps Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, and Eric Clapton at one time or another. They did such amazingly classic tunes as Train Kept A Rollin, Heart Full of Soul, and were Britains best band to many. They do a great blues, and deserve a listen! If you are after something to blow you away, this will beat QuestionMark hands down. Cream gotta be high on the check it out suggestions, Disraeli Gears my fave. Super musicianship there. And also Janis Joplin is a great one to hear if you havent. Such a soulful voice and some very good songs - I like her best with BigBrother and the Holding Co
