i always used to use condoms but latly they have been irritating, me I think that me & my boy are going steady enough to move onto a more convenient type of contraception such as an implanon, but ive heard that this device as well as the pill & other things can have weird side effects, such as putting on weight or getting bad skin, but the one i was concerned about was that it may decrease sex drive, i dont want that to happen to me, so has anyone got an implanon & tell me how it is going? i tried going on the pill once & i got heaps of pimples & then had a really bad migraine so i dont want to do that again.
what about the coil - there is one which gives you a period every few months and doesnt decrease your sex life!! i will look it up for ya
3 years is a long time. And it only has the progesterone, which means it will probably have sideaffects similar to depo. meaning weight gain, spotting, either heavy bleeding or no bleeding, moodiness etc. Have you ever tried a low-dose pill? Diaphragm? IUD? If you're sensitive to chemicals in your body a 3 year chemically based birth control system doesn't sound like the right idea for you
yikes, im scared of getting a coil, the pill gave me a migraine that landed me in hospital, & made me get heaps of pimples, condoms are annoying us both. we just dont know what to use, maybe ill just go & have a good talk to my doc
diaphragm. non invasive, you just have to leave it in for a few hours afterwards. No chemicals, not a long-term or irreversible type deal (depo and this implanon thing sound pretty long term)
yeh going through the alternatives, diaphragm sounds way to much hassle to insert & remove, coil sounds dangerous & scary & i just dont like the idea of it, ive heard to many nasty side effects about the pill not to mention experienced a few for myself, & well implanon is just like being on the pill right? whatabout the depot shot i dont know to much abut that one?
both depo and this implanon thing only have one hormone. Meaning, the chances of your body reacting poorly are increased. If you react badly to the pill, chances are you'll also react badly to depo. I liked it a lot for myself (aside from weight gain) but most women don't react too well to depo. It's also a three month shot, so if you react poorly you can't just stop it, you have to deal with it for the full three months. What about a low dose pill? Or the nuvaring - it's like the pill but you insert it vaginally once every month. The patch is an option but it's pretty obvious and if you have sensitive skin it may be inappropriate.
