Hey all, I had an idea that it would be kinda nifty to have a list somewhere of phone numbers of various members...so we could send some random calls and texts out here and there. Maybe someone could even set up one of those party-line things.

I'm not saying anyone should post their number out in the open here...unless you really aren't worried about having it out on the net... but maybe we could set it up via emails or something to that effect?

Or, hell, just list em all here, lol...I dunno, just throwing things at the wall and hoping they stick.

hey, no reason for it not to work in Europe...of course the ol' phone bill may go up a touch for some of us to call way out there, but I'm sure there's fairly-local people everywhere...and a lot of cells have free long-distance or a billion anytime minutes or whatever...

    yeah, thats an awesome idea!
but if you post it, can you please post the country code or whatever its called, and say if its mobile or normal phone.

also, does anyone know if when your messaging someone from a different country, do you still have to use the country code?

I know what you mean, mairyfairy...but hell, I always figure it's just a phone call and I can always choose not to pick up, or turn off the ringer...

And I guess this would be a good time to put my own, lol

yea it could lead to having to change ones #and stuff at the least ....i know how easier it ais for me to talk than clumsily type [the former being my forte and the latter my foible ]...but one should at least relate their phone info in p m s .

I seriously don't give a fuck about posting it. The number is my cell which I hardly ever use...

Look, I started this because it seemed like a fun idea for people willing to share their number...
If you are too hung up on worries about random internet folk calling you at all hours, well, you don't have to share :)
But plenty of people seem not to be too concerned about it...after all, you can always put the ol' phone on silent, turn it off, not pick up, or number block...

Anyway folks, thanks for sharing :) I'm yet to call anyone because I've been working till pretty late every night and don't want to call people at 4 a.m.
I have off Sunday though, so feel free to give me a call anytime then or tomorrow night. 610.751.4502

The naive stupidity on this forum never ceases to amaze me, but posting one's phone number has to set a new, probably unattainable, standard. Posting one's full address is bad enough, but at least all you have to deal with are zany letters which you can discard. Take it from me: I know from experience.

I used to write an outdoor column for a local paper, however I usually went off-topic and pontificated about politics or the alleged justice system or whatever happened to be bugging me at the time. My editor used to get calls demanding my home phone number, but she was under strict orders to never give it out. Finally, tired of all the calls to her office, she, with my permission, began printing my mailing address. Soon, the letters began streaming in, and what a collection of sustained wackiness they were!

Trust me: you don't want to be awoken at 3 A.M. by people like that.

    MODERATOR NOTE:
This thread is currently under review.

In the meantime, please remember that if you post contact information such as a telephone number or email address in a post it will not only be availble to site memebrs, but also to anonymous visitors, as well as people not even on the site, as we are heavily indexed and cached by search engines. Posting a unubfusticated email address is a sure way to load your box with spam, and posting your phone number may lead to lots of calls! Additionally if you are posting a cell phone, depending on your carrier, you may get charged for incomming international calls. Also if posting a cell phone you may be subject to SMS (text messaging) spam, and some providers charge per message you receive.
