Hello HForumites!! I was watching TV the other day, and they were talking about 'what teenagers want' and at some point the discussion started leaning more towards sex. And that's when this 15 yr old said. "The thing about condoms is that they protect the girl from getting pregnant, they don't actually prevent HIV or Aids. Aids can go through condoms!" Then the whole studio went dead silent. No one entertained his theory. So now i want to know. Is this by any chance true? Personally I think it's just a load of bull. B/c 1st of all HIV is a virus. so considering that there's a physical barrier between the infecter and the potential infectee, the virus cannot surpass that barrier. Thoughts???...:H
assuming the physical barrier is perfect, yes it protects completely against aids unfortunately, latex does tear on occasion, particularly with older condoms or condoms that are a little too small for the guy
That's if older means expired right? Yes, latex does tear, but on all those other occassions when it doesn't, you are virtually 99.9% safe right??
Well, regardless of having a condom or not, I'm not gonna be boning anybody that's got AIDS. They've already tried re-making Rent once.
Actually I was told by a doctor who specializes in aids that it depends what kind of condoms you are talking about. Some prevent the transmission some do not. Apparently there are really small holes in colored and ribbed condoms as well as some brands that semen can't get through but AIDS can. That doctor advised using plain Torjans (lube is fine). However this might have changed, this information is over 5 years old, however I wouldn't assume.
Even though this info is over 5yrs old. Do you think that it could still be possible for colored abd flavored condoms to have small holes in them?
coloured and flavoured condoms are simply not as strong or good as the regular ones (particularly those with spermicide). They are designed primarily as novelties, and while some are now safe for intercourse to prevent pregnancy, they still aren't as effective as regular condoms. Flavoured ones are more for oral sex than for intercourse.... they're more likely to tear than regular ones during intercourse
