My husband and I went camping a couple of weekends ago to a spot we have been going to for years. When we got there we were greeted by bare land with stacks of burned trees everywhere. Our whole area was gone. Years of life no longer there. It was sad. I will never be able to camp there again. I will never have the pleasure of seeing that land flourish with life again within my journey.

I am thankful for the time I had in that wonderful place and can only hope I will be fortunate to find another.

    Much Love to you all,

    T

Nonsense. Go within a couple of years, there WILL be growth there.

People used to burn fields deliberately to replenish the soil.

i agree with you both toketrip and irongoth.

that fire not only changed your place but also you. don't go against it, let it be. maybe do a ritual for yourself and the old place to say goodbye to the old and hello to the new :)

    hugs and kisses

they are all right.....everything is in a cycle and so if you just wait and be patient, the growth will begin to pop up all over the area, perhaps sprouting new growth and beauty that you had never seen there before. don't be saddened by it, rejoice in its rebirth sista!

the wonderful part about burns is that when the grass is coming up lush and green, you start seeing the grazing animals all over the place. they just love the grass coming up on burns. dave and i sometimes just go out to various burn sites and pipeline right of ways to watch the animals feeding and thriving. it's a good thing.

Mama Earth is the ultimate recycling facility. :) It's mind-boggling when you stop and think about it.

I know how you feel. When I was a teenager my parents lived in a very wooded area and I spent every minute of my free time walking and playing in the woods. Right before I moved away, they leveled all the trees and built several houses. The area that I loved so much will never be the same. It has no chance to grow back. If they wouldn't have destoyed the forrest, I would move my family to the area. I hope that you will be able to visit your special place again, but if not I wish you luck on finding a new place that you can make new memories.

It's often fascinating to watch how over time nature rebuilds from what has gone. Some or many of the trees may still be active too depending on the extent of the damage and type of tree.

Willow - yeah it's pretty gloomy when houses are built over land, but doubly worse when they actually clear woods to achieve it! :(

go there and plant a tree*, as a sort of ritual for the rebirth, in the land and in you. As everyone else has said, though it won't be the same, life will return and replenish the devestation.

*make sure it's a native tree

I can identify with this, in a way.

Much of the are around my town, which used to all be untouched ground, is being plowed to build houses. In fact, I can hear bulldozers outside, from construction going on across the street, destroying a beautiful field.

I also have a special spot, where I like to go on walks with my dog. I know that it's only a matter of time, before they tear that down, and build there as well. So now, I go out every day that I can make it, and experience the untouched nature that exists out there.

I'm sorry for your loss, goodwitch. I can only imagine how it must feel, to lose something so dear. But as TrippinBTM said, go plant a tree. Be happy knowing that you contributed to the start of a new era, for that place.

    Peace and Love,
    River
