hahaha... I know man. I kinda like dirty-soles feet... they are pretty in a comforting way. ~~~rock on barfeet-ers~~~~~
im not sure if ive ever heard of a law, but i know for a fact many towns have ordinances regarding bare feet. The summer camp i went to happened to be in a county where bare feet could mean fines. No one at my camp cared, the only time they made me put on shoes was when we went hiking, or (for obvious reasons) on the alpine tower. So unless someone who would care/ local athority was at the camp for a day they would let me be barefoot (and when someone was there, since i wasnt 18 yet it was their problem if i got caught shoe-less) I actually got repremanded by a cop on one of my days off of camp, i was at a local ren fest. I was having a great time, never crossed my mind a place like that would care. But i just told the guy i had no shoes iwth me and as soon as i saw a booth selling some id purhcase a pair, and that i was only 16, figured i couldnt get in as much trouble as i was a minor) But there are ordinaces and just 'stuff on the books' in different places.
I think it's irresponsible of you to perpetuate this kind of "information" if you don't back it up. It's rather anecdotal, and vague. "Many towns have ordinances regarding bare feet"? What do these ordinances say, hmm? Please specify, since you are implying you are familiar with them, where exactly and under what circumstances these towns prohibit bare feet. I am a member of the Society for Barefoot Living (www.barefooters.org) and the society has done research and found only a handful of places (counties, I believe they were) that had anything at all to say about regulating bare feet. The discussion came up recently on their email list, and the only places anyone was able to find with actual anti-barefoot ordinances were in that socialist haven, Massachusetts (where they love to dictate the nitty-gritty details of life to the public). How does your assertion square with the FACT that the SBL has not found a single Health Department in the U.S. that prohibits barefoot patrons from entering business establishments or restaurants? I don't want to sound mean, but you shouldn't talk out your ass about this because the myths you perpetuate make people more willing to engage in unjustified prejudice against those who wish to be barefoot, like me and many others here. Never heard of a law, but you know there are ordinances... What do you think ordinances are? I would like to know: how exactly did you get informed that bare feet could mean fines in this county where your summer camp was? Did you see it typed in a statute book? Was there a sign posted with an ordinance number so that you could look it up? Did someone just tell you that it was against the law (er, sorry, "ordinance")? I mean, part of the reason I am skeptical is that when I was in high school, I drove to the beach with friends, and rather than put my shoes back on my sandy feet, I drove back home barefoot, and I really enjoyed it -- but I felt like I was doing something illegal that I could get "caught" at. Why? Who knows why. Somewhere along the line I had "heard" that it was "illegal" to drive barefoot. I have NO idea where I came upon that "information" first, but there it was in my head. Years later, I found that I was a "barefooter," and I found that the subject of whether laws really stand between me and being barefoot began to interest me. In the Digest of Motor Vehicle Laws published by AAA (triple A, you know, "Automobile Association of America") they SPECIFY in the entry for each individual state that it "driving barefoot is permitted." There is actually a separate line for that information in the entry for each state -- I have read the entries of all 50 states with my own eyes. Can you say the same for ANY anti-barefoot "ordinance" you claim is out there? I'd truly appreciate an honest answer. Blue skies, -Jeffrey
whether it is a law or not.... in school when mt teacher says put shoes on, i kinda have to listen.... O my god this is bad look at what im saying! ^^^^ i can fight the power and say no its not a law! then i can go to the principal. what are they gonna do? call the cops on my barefeet? oooo im confused....
thats really a good question. what would the school do if you refused to put your shoes on. would they expell you for not wearing shoes? ha! i think that would be funny if someone gets expelled for not wearing shoes! i live down in the islands so people are always going barefoot or wearing flip-flops. if you go in to the mall or a grocery store or something they'd probably tell you to put your shoes on but other that that...i wouldn't want to go bare foot in a grocery store or the mall any way (shivers) too cold.
My cousin owns concession stands where they travel to different events for about 5 months a year. We went to an event for 4th of July, where I spent about 12 hours barefoot. Guess if you are self-employed or work for family members then nobody will say anything about you going barefoot. If you are unable to work at fairs or any other outdoors event or farmer's market, maybe try babysitting or teaching self defense classes, or any home business where you can be your own boss and make your own rules.
Hi, there everybody. I like barefooting so much!!! But, I`ve gotta problems - actually I`m shy to go out on street barefoot during the day. I think that someone will think bad of me, that I`m nuts... Or what to do if I meet someone that i know?! I go barefoot usually when it gets dark. I visited http://community-2.webtv.net/barefootprince/ONGOINGBAREFOOTIN/page2.html, and I read it, but i`m still very shy to show off my bare feet to eveyone. If I could I`d be barefoot all day (pretty warm-36 celzius degrees). I don`t wanna miss this BAREFOOT summer just because I`m shy... Please, I`d really like some GOOD advice... I`d be very thankful to You...
I used to feel shy about being seen barefoot in front of people, especially people I didn't know. I started walking barefoot in parks and trails. I felt defenseless at first without my shoes, almost like I was nude. After a few walks it seemed natural. Most people don't say anything about it. I'm barefoot in front of people a lot now. Just start going barefoot in front of people. Start with friends if you are more comfortable with them compared with strangers. Also, walk with a friend or a group where everyone is barefoot together. It gives you more confidence. You will find that you will be comfortable about it after a few times.
Schools are absolutely NOT into teaching nor encouraging independent thought. The school administrators would not want to tax their own brains however much it would take to think rationally about this subject. Really if they were so worried about a barefoot student getting injured, they could call a conference with the parents (assuming the parents support the child's choice), and ask them to go on record as saying they won't hold the school liable for injuries. As it is, they have kids playing dangerous sports, and every year kids get injured, paralyzed, even killed playing high school football. For them to say they're worried about piddling little "I-stepped-on-something" injuries is laughable. No, school administrators would simply skirt the pith of this issue by saying that that the issue of being barefoot or not doesn't even merit discussion because this is just a case of insubordination -- of a student not following a teacher's directions. Never mind the fact that the directions themselves need to be questioned. That'll never happen. Blue skies, -Jeffrey
A: Unemployed B: i think its kinda cool to go into dirty bathrooms barefoot C: i've been to every place i typically go to and have never been told to leave, and lots of places with a nsnsns sign and i say fuck'em.
If I was that kid's parent and he/she got expelled for not wearing shoes, id complain. I would say "Hey, buddy, me and every other decent taxpayer out there pays your taxes and ensures you have money to support yourself so just shut uo". *assuming I was an adult, and paid taxes and was a parent I mean for a school to expel a kid just for not wearing shoes is ridiculous, especially if the kid is not offending anyone, hurting anyone or is doing well in hisher classes. They could if they felt they needed to do something, they could just give the kid detention or give em a tardy slip or just something minor but really its not something the teachers should do anything about at all, definitely not expel a kid over, that ruins them for life and is unacceptable, especially when schools ignore other kids who cause much worse trouble and warrant being expelled even more. Thats why most people refuse to support school/teacher grants because these idiots waste the money on useless programs and pay teachers who do less than adequate jobs and it really makes me sick. I beleive these teachers should stop complaining about clothing and worry about ensuring the students get a good education and have something to go on and get a career out of. If the bare feet do not interefere with the kids studies and dont keep anyone else from learning then there is no point to make a student wear them and if another student complains, the teacher should just explain to them that the kid without the shoes is not doing anything wrong and is being comfortable and tell the complainer to get a life. Id go into a mall without shoes and a shirt if I could, I wouldnt care if it was cold. I usually dont wear much anyways so it wouldnt be much different, my body would adjust, especially if I move around alot. Besides people wearing flip flops face almost the same risks as barefoot people so I think its silly and they just kick em off under the table during class anyhow. Exactly, they are like any other business, theyre in it for the MONEY, not the kids! Thats why they deny kids their well earned breaks as much as they can so that they get more money per kid, per day, per hour that the kid is in school. Thats their true reason for year around school. Dont give me that "well we dont wanna spend 1 month going over previous material" bullshit, thats a lie! They like year round school because it means more money for them! Most teachers ive had sit around all day, give out worksheets *which the students usually passed out* and then just read a book or rest and thats what they do all day besides give a small lecture before each thing we do in class, thats it and they expect to get paid the big bucks for this? I dont think so. Kids dont learn things effectively from just doing bookwork or writing stuff down all the time, the teacher needs to get up there and TEACH and do their jobs. The school needs to get the parents to not hold them liable for injuries if the school was not the direct cause of them and then let kids wear whatever they want so long as it doesnt interfere with their education. Well then the kid needs to go home, tell their parents and then the parent can come down there, take this "insubordination" and shove it up the admin where the sun dont shine. These kids should not have to follow ignorant demands if they are not practical or logical. If the teachers want respect then they need to act in a mature manner and give orders that make sense and explain why theyre doing so to the student so they understand so there is no mix up. I want these yahoos to take some responsibility!
Ugh. :& I sure hope you are not serious. I can't figure out what someone would find to be a TURN-ON about walking barefoot in a dirty restroom -- and I'm pretty liberal in my sexuality, and open to lots of things... -Jeffrey
ha. We aren't allowed to wear flip-flops either, or backless shoes, or backless sandals. I thought this rule was just made up, because some student told me the school was banning these shoes because "In case of a fire, we would trip on them". I'd never heard anything like that, so I wore them anyways. I got sent to the office, where some vice-principal (I think. she claimed she was but I'd never seen her...) told me I was now on "the list". They had this list of dress-code offenders, and told me I was on it, and that if I violated the dress-code again, I'd be suspended. I live too far away to walk home, so I had to call my parents and get them to bring me another pair of shoes... but I really didn't have any other pair, so I wore my younger sister's and my feet turned purple. :& oops. I just remembered that. I wished I hadn't left the others out in the rain...hahaha... oh, anyways, it was pretty stupid. I've never been a fan of the dress code....
The restrooms at K-Marts ive been to actually look a lot better than they used to. I heard a while back those guys were in trouble and so I think they had to get their act together and since then theres been less solicitors outside, better bathrooms and cleaner stores. I just hope they dont think they have to add a NSNSNS policy anytime soon.
