I don't watch South Park, but I'm willing to bet what they said is completely off. It is just a comedy show.

It's kind of an odd combination of Christianity and Buddhism.

I don't know anyone who actually is a Scientologist, though. It seems to be more of a celebrity club than anything else. I do find it kind of amusing that their name is a registered trademark.

No, Mormons are just Christians who added another book, that supposedly covers the 15 year (?) gap in Jesus's life that isn't in the King James Bible.

Isn't it interesting that those were the years that he was a teenager and young adult? Hmm...

I dont know, during the whole explanation of the religion's history they had the words "This is what scientologists actually believe" at the bottom of the screen.

Sounds like the Gospel version of the Harry Potter books.

I shouldn't say that. I work with a few Mormons and they're all very very nice people.

according to south park (I could be a bit off so if you remember better feel free to correct the story) scientologists believe that along time there were aliens who inhabited the earth or something like that but when they died they had all these dead alien souls and so they 'brain washed' these souls into believing all these mind numbing things(like religion) to keep us from the knowing the truth and the point of scientology is to reorient your mind to get these alien concepts out of your mind

^yeah basically, but what makes the story even sillier is the fact that they believe our souls are the souls of aliens who lived in an "intergalactic confederation of planets" 75 milliong years ago. THey had all the alien souls shipped to earth. To prevent the souls from floating back to their planets they build giant soul catchers in the sky! Then they brainwashed them and the souls inhabited early cavemen.
Its really funny to hear trey parker explaining the whole history with such enthusiasm so its better hearing it on the show :D

May i ask how long you have been a Scientologist? What drew you to it? Do you agree with the way Tom Cruise portrays himself regarding the religion?
I haven't heard another Scientologist give an opinion about him.

Yes I do agree with Tom Cruise. (I assume you are talking about his views on psychiatry.) Psychiatry is the worlds attempt to find a quick fix for their problems. Psychiatry, in reality just gives you pills that release chemichals to a certain part of the brain that, in essence, make you too stupid to realize your problems. As soon as chemichals stop entering the brain, the problems emerge again. I have seen psychiatry's effects throughout my family. I've had cousins who look as if their starving themselves, a suicidal sister, and my sister on a later medication who lost all of her interests such as playing music, reading, talking to friends. Hell, she quit watching TV. She was like a zombie. However, I think Tom Cruise is too quick to lose his patience with others.

I've been a Scientologist for a little while now, I had an add on my door for it. I visited their mission and bough the book Dianetics. Something about it just clicked. It made alot of sense. For the first time I'd found something that really worked. Not like other religions where you really have to look hard if you want to see a miracle. With Scientology, they were happening everyday.

Yeah, scientology attracts people who are crazy. Generally, except for the celebrities they recruit, the lower echelons are people with family histories of poor mental health, etc. These people are so fucked up that drugs can't help them, so they are given a new mental framework by the psychologists who designed scientology. Even the fact that it "opposes" psychiatry is simply something to manipulate the mind of crazies who are repulsed by the thought of psychiatry into accepting mental health treatment in another form.
