you should really think that we could be a universe in some aliens fingernail. there would be galaxies that we have no idea that exist. there could be a paralell world that is just like us. there could be another you. aliens could be watching you and you would never know it. the world can be an eye.

if the universe is expanding outwards, and nothing can travel faster than the speed of light, that means that light is getting to places millions of years before matter does. i bet from the outside the universe looks like a big glowy ball with a chewy galactic centre. mmm.

Yeah..have you ever thought about maybe our seemingly huge universe is just like a very very little molecule is some other world or something? Like what if how our universe ends is that we finally burn down in a forest fire, because our seemily endless universe is just a small atom or something in a field of another world. Think about that when you're tripping.

Yeah i totaly agree about determanism, choce isnt ilogical, an illusion created by the complexity of events. So we cannot see its all conected its just there are so many conectons we could never see what is to come and we feel there is choice. it takes a bit of time to get over that realizasion tho, messes with your whole way of life.....

When comparing earth to the universe, earth does not have a size. Relative to the universe earth is nothing. It's like when you divide any number by infinity in math, you get 0. Same thing with time. Anything that doesn't last forever, never existed. The only moment that exists is the present. The past and future are only memories and thoughts in our temporary minds at the present time. That's what I believe anyway. The entire universe is a contradicion as far as I can understand.

The above poster has an interesting thought. I've considered that myself.

I look at the term universe as everything, including all other dimensions. I think there's only one universe, not many. In other words, there is no outside.

 

I kind of agree with some points here...
One thing I would disagree with though is about free choice. It's a rather complex issue, but things can be pre-determined and we could still have free choice. The reason being is that even though everything works out the way it has to, at the time you are making any decision in life you have no idea how it must work out. This lack of knowledge gives you true free choice at the time...even though everything is already pre-determined.

yes your completely right,in the end everything is paradoxial in some way
everything is determined,we are part of a "machine" like existance,however the very phenomena of our consciousness does not allow us to see past certain veils
we feel free,we can feel beauty and love and peace and every other emotion under the sun,and some people might come along and say "its JUST brain chemistry"
as if laying out the truth liek that makes it....less?
its not the case,its all the more mysterious and precious to be part of this wacked out jigsaw puzzle
the very fact that there is an emotion like love that feels the way it does in this "cold universe" is beyond beautiful
people give science sort of an impersonal face,and it doesnt have to be so
