well, I attempted it a couple times.
it was adequate, and tasty but could have been better. bad green peppers, I think.
I'm going to break out the SP discussion and move it to Hinduism, if you don't mind.

what went wrong with ur uttapam drumminmama?

was the batter too thick or thin? that happens....

there is also another book thats has amazing recipes (and yes its a hare krsna cookbook) is by kurma dasa, called great vegeatrian dishes.

i have used the big book by yamuna for years and years and its definately an excellent reference.

but yamuna put out another one (i think with timelife books im not sure) and its called INDIA the vegetarian table. and it is hands down, my fave cookbook ever, there are many regional recipes, and i dare say, the presentation is some of the finest indian cuisine i have ever seen or tasted. i would recommend it to everybody

    love

ohhh yaa i would just add that in regards to yamuna's lord krishnas cuisine- the recipes would be considered traditional indian, in that they were compiled all from her 11 years in india and learned from the brahmana cooks of many vaisnava families :)

There is a Hare Krsna lunch on the college campus. $4, all you can eat and they have this delicious salad dressing that makes it worth teh $ alone. Most of the dishes are vegan (even desserts!) and they have this fresh strawberry lemonade. It is amazing and delicious.
In my opinion, Indian food isn't the most visually appealing food to a Westerner, but you can never go on that! I am a huge fan of Indian food, but not familiar with most the terms/names. There is a restaurant here that has a delicious eggplant bharta and a tofu dish but I forgot what it was called. I hate most tea but theirs is awesome.
mmmmm I want some Indian food now...

I also read about not being able to taste Krsna food and that Krsna has to have his own plate. :)
