uhh there are rural areas, but slowly they are getting urbanized. you dont like the city?? i cant stand anything less than city.
u probably could buy land, the weed laws are like its illegal if you're caught i think..? people do it in the back of my school, and once they were caught, but only got suspended i think.
its pretty damn cold in the winter, in the summer it can go 30C +

but Toronto's great overall. Especially downtown, and the busy areas.

Toronto is easily the owrst city I have ever been to in my entire life, its rush hour 12 hours a day, theres garbage all over the side of the highways and in the parking lots and pretty much everywhere, you have the chance of catching a stray bullet at any time of the day (50+ homicides this year) it smells funny, noone knows how to drive, 85% of the city is a slum with bums and crack fiends on the street corners. I've been to detroit, new york, philly and miami and none of those big cities were even close to how disgusting toronto is.

    with that being said, enjoy.

Wow, someone likes to exaggerate... LOL  I mean, Toronto isn't the greatest city in the world but you're making it sound worse than it is, my friend.

A slum? Have you ever even seen what an actual slum looks like? Fortunately I had the privilege of being born into a good home, but I've seen slums up close in my home land and believe me, people in Toronto should thank their lucky stars everyday for living in this so called "slum"... ;)

Stray bullets? I walk around by myself without a care in the world and I'm not worried about stray bullets... Of course there are certain neighbourhoods that you gotta watch for, but isn't it like that in every big city?

Of course Toronto is dirty, but I've traveled around the United States and I saw a lot more garbage there than I ever saw over here. Have you ever gone on NYC's subway?!?!? It's FILTHY and vandalized! Check out Toronto's subway... How could you ever compare? I'm not a big fan of big cities life style myself, but there are more job opportunities here and that's the only reason why I haven't moved yet. Unfortunately I need the money for university. But yeah, I intend to move to a quiet place too...

Just wanted to clear that up before brandonveg starts to panic! LOL!

I've been to Ottawa and it's a lovely place... I can see why Toronto would come as such a shock to you... LOL Peace!

Ummm... Anyway, going back to the original poster's question... Yes, there are more "rural" areas in Ontario, of course.. but not necessarily close to Toronto... I mean, it depends on what you're looking for and what you mean by "rural". Good luck with your new life in Canada! :)

yeah... obviously I was exagerating when i said you would get hit with a stray bullet, im sure he doesnt believe there are actually stray bullets flying around the streets

anyway its still a horrible city... although I must admit that where I stay when I go is with a couple of friends of mine that live on islington in rexdale. And its pretty disgusting around there....and not so bad in the more suburb areas of TO. Not to mention I was in toronto when they had that gang war that went on where like 8 people got shot and killed in 12 hours.. I think thats what the numbers were, and those were all within a few blocks from where we were, infact when we were out on the balcony of his apartment it was freaky as shit, because you could hear like 6 or 7 shots in a row then within llike 30 sec - 1 min you could hear sirens coming down the street... it was a pretty crazy experience.
