Anyone have any experience with screenplays?

I'm in the process of adapting a book into a movie screenplay for a class.

 

ah we have to smash some of the chronicles of narnia into script and act it out in tv pro class. im dreading that shit.

 

I'm an unproduced (so-far) screenwriter, although I sold an option a few years back.

I'll help if I can.

This is my first screenplay, and I'm going to try and have most of it finished (first draft) to turn in. Right now, I'm going through the book and figuring out a structure to use. Cutting scenes, combining dialoge, deciding what's most mportant... Right now, I don't need any help per se, but if you have any tips, websites, books that you can recommend, I'm all ears.

I've never done it, but I'm beginning to think that way when I develope my characters.
