man, like some of you said, even if he was down to 1% he would still be in office. (unfortunately) i just like to rub it in everyone's face that the approval ratings are down

Technically he could remain in office with no approval at all. But realistically it can't happen.

As far as democracy goes, here's the definition from Wikipedia
My original point, which most of you missed completely is that if Bush stays president once his support dwindles into the 20s, we'll still have a "republic", but it would no longer be democratic, as it certainly isn't when elections are stolen by the same person twice, and who no longer represents anything close to the will of the people.

I fear what actions Bush will take knowing this is his last term and that his approval rating has dropped so low. He's been horrible thus far but will he get worse? I'm betting yes, and that thought scares the hell out of me.

IIRC, Bush actually lost the popular vote per actual voter turnout (he merely won the largest states.)

Doesn't matter either way, since the popular vote doesn't decide the winner of an election; the electoral college does. ;)

Well yes, we shouldnt forget the tireless effort made by Catherine Harris to have 10's of thousands of legitimate voters disenfranchised as "felons" to tip the balnce just enough in the contested districts.

Poor Gilligan. Are you so childish in your mentality that you are incapable of replying to any exposed duplicity of those who actually hold the power without the typical pathetic schoolboy response of "but they did it too..."?

You constantly show yourself as little more than a pathetic whiner.

And yet more of the "you guys" bs. What "you guys" are you referring to precisely Gilligan? I never supported the Democrats nor Kerry so you know where you can stick your childish "you guys". Vote for any existing US party and the nation loses frankly.

As for proof, you are as capable of reading as any of us dear boy, and the reports of deliberate and illegal voter disenfranchisement as well as Diebold malfeasance are readily available to any who care to take the time to research them.

Given your predelection for whining rather than actually researching anything, Ill not hold my breath waiting for any such effort on your part.

Carry on with your silly schoolyard excuse making.

As for extreme minorities, nutcase libertarians are the very definition of such. You're obviously arguing into a mirror again. ;)

Incorrect again Gilligan. I am pointing out what has been widely scrutinised and is readily available to any unlike yourself who might actually care about the betrayal of our democratic process by a corrupt administration and its equally corrupt corporate backers.

I couldnt give a flying toss whether it was Demublicans or Republicrats who committed the fraud, merely that the fraud was committed. You on the other hand are evidently content to continue your petty partisan diatribes in the face of outright betrayal of the Constitution.

Carry on being the regurgitative sheeple, by all means. You do mouth the Rovian-styled talking points so faithfully, after all.

What did i make an excuse for? You are the one making excuses of why the democrats lost!!!!!!![/QUOTE]
The Democrats lost in part because Bush's buddies at Diebold rigged the voting machines that they manufactured. Diebold's CEO went on the record saying "I am commited to helping the President win Ohio.

The other reason is they ran a creaky, wooden windbag like Kerry. Kerry lost in part because he can't connect with people like Bill Clinton can.

I see one solution to this whole mess. Win back the House and Senate and pass some laws to make sure that elections are actually fair and honest ie. having a paper print out to insure that computer voting machines aren't tampered with.

It wouldn't hurt my feeling one bit if we got some Libertarians in the House and Senate. I don't subscribe to the entire Libertarian platform but they do have alot of good ideas.

The Libertarian ideology (one that I would truly love to see work) will never come to fruition because there are people who can't be trusted to be fair without some regulation (and I'm not pointing to any specific person or group), there are people who will sit by and let the worker bees go at it and then stand in the chow line with plates held out, and there are people who will manipulate and compromise and spin and do anything to get over on other people. There are also those people that my sig refers to.

Libertarianism has about as much of a chance of working as does Anarchy or Communism. Looks real good on paper and then you add Man.

Aw shucks. There goes the neighborhood!

Diebold Voting Machine Owner Committed to Give Votes to Bush in 2004

    Blackbox Voting

Communism does work, to a certain extent. It may not be in it's ideal state of efficiency, however, I challenge you to find a government that is. ;)

Just because libertarianism doesn't seem like it's going to work doesn't give you any excuse to cut corners. Wasn't it you, Gilligan, that pointed out the fact that not voting for Bush was no excuse to vote for Kerry? Seems a bit hypocritical to me...

It's exactly what you said; you vote for the "next best thing" when you claim otherwise.

Thanks for the links, but I'm quite aware of the Nader incident. ;)

The only reasons Bush got a bump was speech after speech (full of the usual rhetoric), and some positive economic reports, and the trial of Saddam. Also the absence of really bad news for the past month (he got a brief respite).

But just wait, here's what's going to do him in...

    1. Oil prices (going up again)
    2. Rove indictment (coming soon).
    3. Libby trial
    4. Delay trial
    5. Torture & rendition investigations
    6. Supreme Court nominee hearings (doubt he's gonna get this one either)
    7. Rift with conservatives in own party will widen further as more become fed up with him
    8. Outcome & response to Iraq elections (more violence?)
    9. Possibility of another terror attack in US (oil refineries?)
    10. His usual bungling incompetence will no doubt cause more problems & crises (which we can't foresee now).
