The bloodiest war in world histroy since World War 2 happened in Africa. The Second Congo War. Started in 1998. Over 4 million causilties in the DRC alone, many killed through genocide and many more through forced starvation and disease brought about by the war.

Sorta ended 2003 when the UN finally intervened, but ethnic tensions are still very strong and killing and plundering by militias is still very bad, although not on the same scale.

Never really heard about it much in the media.
