Has anyone had the pleasure of seeing this yet? I saw it last night, and I was very impressed to say the least. It is definitely one of the best movies to come out this year, which isn't saying much, but it was still excellent.
I can not wait till this movie hits theatres here, I'm so excited that Dan Miller and his wife Tracee Mae Miller have a small role in it. (their from a detroit band called Blanche and their just awesome) Also, phoenix looks great from what i have seen as cash, yeah excited like whoa
I want to see it so badly.I'm always a fan of biopics. The fact that Joaquin and Reese sang all the songs without backing vocals or lipsynching seems pretty admirable.
I seen it last night and thought it was great. I think they could of went deeper into his life and career, but defintly a must-see for cash fans.
Joaquin Phoenix is like a god. I love that man. I'm definately making plans to see it, but I haven't had a chance or the cash to do so yet. Cash of course was a legend as well.
Walk the Line was a wonderful movie, mostly due to the quality of acting. Witherspoon and Phoenix were amazing. They will be nearly impossible to beat come Oscar time.
Yes, J.P. is a god!!! Isn't it awesome that someone that was born with a hideous deformity like a cleft pallete can be healed and turned into a god??? It's like a bit of heaven the way things can work out in the end. My half brother was born with that too and thankfully he had the surgery and is fine now. But it is a miracle that babies can have that surgery. There are so many that need it all over the world. If you ever see any of the programs out there that help them, think of Phoenix and remember what it really can mean. Both Phoenix and Reese are so gifted. I'm listening to my Johnny Cash tunes right now! I grew up listening to him. He's a god too!!!
I just saw it tonight. It was amazing. I couldn't believe the songs either. They did a great job. Definately the best movie I've seen in a long while. There were parts that really hit me, which I won't say since not many people have seen it yet, but there were times I couldn't believe how much I knew exactly what he was feeling. Definately a must see.
I'm glad to hear it's not a flop. I'm really looking forward to it. I love Johnny Cash. You may already know, but the guiy who played waylon Jennings in the movie is his son, Shooter. Hel of a musician, too.
I heard it was really good. When I first heard about it, I was just hoping it wasn't going to be butchered.
Ooh am so deseperate to see this movie. Am a great fan of Joaquin, and have been follow the films progress. Good to know it's a hit. Actually it was just a weird little scar type thing he was born with (official statement, from his mom). So no true deformities. It kinda adds to his appeal in a way, would rather take that than all those 'blah, oh so perfect, textbook handsome' actors any day. Not that you even notice most of the time, what with all his other great atribues.
Sage-phoenix, thanks for the J.P. cleft update, but i don't really believe the press report. Cleft lip deformities are very very prevelent in mexican genetics. Perhaps they just don't want the "stigma" of it attached to his image. Who really knows...but "Scars" don't form out of nothing! Anyway, Who cares? it matters not! (But it could be such an inspiration to so many.) The movie is awesome, and he is an amazing actor and will certainly be Oscar nominated for this work.
i think i got too high before i saw this movie because the entire time i kept thinking to myself..."that's joaquin phoenix doing an excellent cash voice...but it's still joaquin phoenix"...or else i was thinking..."how can i trust this dialogue? how much of this stuff was actually said?" i know that i'm just supposed to enjoy it and use my imagination, but after i saw this movie, i don't think i can ever see another biopic again. i don't allow myself to get into the idea that i'm actually witnessing "the life" of the singer/actor/politician/journalist/etc. the only kind of biopic i might be able to see is something where the actual celebrity is playing the role of his or herself, which would require making the actual movie before they're dead, which might be seen as being pretentious, but i think it would make for a more believable film. i'm just rambling here because i had so many thoughts during the movie...btw...i saw the film as a free sneak preview, and we had to sit in the fourth row...and the screens are HUGE...shit...i was tripping OUT!! also...because it was so crowded, it was impossible to find two seats together, and things started getting heated...about five minutes before the lights went out for previews, BAM!! chick fight in the row right behind us!! it was awesome...it was between a forty something year old mexican woman and an abercrombie & fitch type white chick. the mexican lady had a daughter with her who had the same sort of style as the white chick...they were also about the same age, so it was weird for me to watch the daughter watching her mom fight the white girl because the daughter was so confused as to whose side she should be on. i couldn't break up the fight because i was in shock, so some little emo hipster kids did.
woohoo i seen it friday.the decision was made at the last minute.i didn't think it was going to be as good as it was.i grooved in my seat a couple times =P
A sweet movie, very cool that Cash knew what was going on before it started and that he and his wife are played by two good actors. But all the same, I need more Waylon!!!!! That is to say, would've enjoyed some more of the later years, the ending is my only real critique.
