This is a post i found Taken from the stop the war website:- The grave threat to international peace posed by the invasion and continued occupation of Iraq is now clear for all to see. The people of Iraq and the citizens of Britain and America have time and again insisted that they are opposed to war and occupation. We believe it is now time for representatives of those people to meet together face to face, to renew our bonds of solidarity and to express our joint opposition to war. To that end a broad and representative conference attended by a delegation of Iraqis drawn from all those sections of society rejecting the US and British occupation will meet in London on 10th December 2005. We call on all peace campaigners, trade unionists, the congregations of all faiths, non-governmental organisations, progressive campaigns, community organisations and political parties to send delegates to this conference. anybody want to come along? i want to go myself but ive never been to a protest and as a first i would like to go with a few others. if anyone is interested could you let me know. its in london on the 10th december....
yeh i do, ive never been to a protest either so i have no idea what they are like but ive always wanted to go to one
i've been to many protests since the early 70's. i love going to them, it makes you feel so free and that you are truly expressing your voice, it also gives you great power when you are standing with thousands of other spirits that feel the same as you. the most empowering protest i've ever been to was in 1997 at the capitol building in sacramento calif. it was for affirmative action. jesse jackson was there and he came walking down the road with thousands of african-americans and american-indians. it was so incredible. i felt chills, it was such a beautiful day with many powerful speakers and the native tribes played their drums and sang and were all in their beautiful native costumes. my husband and i danced the dance of peace with hundreds of people. don't be afraid to go, it is a lifetime experience, you will meet many wonderful and peaceful people. but the thing i always watch out for is that if a protest does become negative, if fights break out or the police come, i always leave. i've only been to one concert that went that way in the 70's in golden gate park. i've never been arrested and i always stay safe. have a great time hippiewise angel
