Okay so my dog is still young but if you knew her you would think she is like a 10 year old dog.

to preface this she only ever chews up weird things such as down filled things. so I had to work a double the other day and she got left in the house for like 3 hours more then normal and she chewed up a pillow.

I realize that chewing is a reflection of boredom boredom=lack of activity.

but why the things that I love like my pillow?
I now put all of my pillows up and blankets up before I leave so she can't naw them but does anyone else's dog do these things?

Maybe she became frightened when you did not come home on time. Dogs always think everything is forever. As far as the pillow, I am sure that it smelled the most like you of the things she could get to. It took my dog forever to get used to my wife and my odd schedules. Dogs are so OC they want the routine.

I know. But it take me for ever to get used to a pillow. and find the right sleeping zone. so it was like taking a bullet in the neck.

my dog likes our shoes, but doesn't really eat them, he just takes them to his bed. Now whenever we leave the house we shut all the doors to bedrooms and the the bathroom (he plays with the toilet paper, like a cat almost, it's very odd).

Can you just shut your door? I think it's most likley a scent thing, but I hope your bullet wound gets better [IMG]

my dog lily chews everything thats in her path. she's yet to chew a pillow though. you know its very possible that your dogs realizes you love this pillow and is showing his distain for your leaving him alone....saying "dont leave me like this!". but for the future keep your floor stocked with chewies/rawhides to keep him busy. i hide some around the house that way lily and daisy get to "hunt" for them during the day and then get excited when they find one.

Paix- Barney is nutz, it is because he was raised in the valley!!!!!!!

Elle, My house is dog toy heaven. I rotate them out so she is never bored. And I am sure she realized that it was a special pillow. I got it from a roommate who hated it but then I moved in and took it over. lol. She loves pillows she actually has her own and making her sleep in the hall one night seems to have solved the problem. she is back to her normal dopey yellow lab self. I mean my dog is the only dog I know that can tear apart kongs, LMAO I called the kong ppl and they said it was rare. but could be done

I was watching Animal Planet and they had a clip of a dog who was being videotaped while home alone.....she was having the biggest pillow fight with herself and feathers were flying everywhere. THATS why i dont let my dogs watch tv.......puts ideas in their head.;)

nevermind the fact that it totally rots their brain. I think it is the same with sugar and soda. Dogs these days you have to be on an ever present vigal to raise them right and keep them away from gangs and the streets.

    Milk your cat and milk?

well Out little Fangy poo the feline well more then once I have caught her with whole bags of grass. and then if that wasn't enough she picked up the habit of eating cat nip. she will meow for hours at the nip drawer. GOah I glad it just isn't my animals. I often force them to listen to country music for all of this addiction! Lets not get started with the dog and Peanut butter treats.

Not to be disgusting but I'd watch your dog for a bit. My puppy who is 6 months ripped her stuffed cow apart and her bear. She had stuffing everywhere. The disgusting part is what she did eat and swallow has to come out. It did. Not a good scene.

So funny to think about what the dog looked like having a pillow fight with it's self.

Right now my puppy is sleeping in her crate while we are not at home or for bed time. I don't like having her in there but if we didn't she'd destroy the entire house.
