Either that, or they are just curious. It can be annoying when they do that, but you can also become more laid back about it, too. You're from another country, so it's bound to happen, anyway.

Pretty soon, though, you won't even get that. The whole accent thing can be dealt with, if you get used to moving your tongue and mouth the certain ways. You can't do that unless you shed your fears of potentially getting ridiculed for your accents and some gramatical errors, though. It's way better to make mistakes and have people correct you than not speaking as much as you'd like and, in turn, keep yourself from improving your conversational skills.

Hell, I don't even feel I learned my English in school, but when I actually left and started talking to random people more, haha.

    But, but... Accents are COOL!!

I LOVE speaking with all these different accents(or at least I try to), and I think it's a really fascinating field. Hell, I CAN speak with the accent of my own origin too if I wanted, but it also feels good to speak with my North American accent, too. To me, it feels more natural speaking with the North American accent, even though I'm not from there originally.

Relax, and don't worry about it. Not everyone is out to bash your accent.

Actually... You know what? If you feel that way, then stop stressing about it. If you feel comfortable speaking with your Italian accent(which I think should be pretty cool, I might add), just speak it with pride. Don't even worry about whether or not chicks dig it.

If your comfortable with yourself, girls will see it in you. ;)

    Understood. :) And you're right, it isn't.

When I asked my first girlfriend out, that was when my English was still pretty shitty...grammer wise, and stuff. I now remember those days as a funny period of time because I'd always get her to help me with my ESL homework, lol.

Besides, as far as I know, accents are more often a turn-ON than off, anyway.

That's probably like me with the accent of my own origin... I probably wouldn't say I "hate" it, but I wouldn't start putting it on after all this time.

Accents are sexy, though some are sexier than others.

I always wonder what an American accent sounds like to people from other parts of the world.

Actually, there ARE different accents even within what is known generally as the "American" accent. There's New York accent, Southern, Texan... But I usually say "North American" because there isn't much difference between, say, West Coast Canadian accent(there was this girl who was from Ontario, and she sounded a bit different from the way B.C. people would sound like... and there's always the "Newfie" accent which sounds different as well) and many of the American counterparts.

I tend to notice certain similarities between the English accent and Australian accent, though, it also depends on which part of each country. Watching movies like Harry Potter series is great because you can hear different accents from different parts of UK.

This whole thing, I find, is a totally fascinating territory. :)

Don't lose your accent. The American accent is the most bland and horrible accent, completely lacking in character. You don't want to talk like that. Anywho after French women speaking English, the Scottish accent is next sexiest imho. Since I've been travelling people keep asking me to do the lines of the Irish guy in Braveheart ("It's my island" etc etc) so I feel your pain. Or worse is when I meet English people who insist on say "Top of the morning to ya" everytime they see me. *sighs* Still it could be worse, I could be from England! :D

Oi, i should bop you for saying us and the bloody poms can sound the same :p Kidding, we have a rivalry though that has been going for yonks.
True though, that the most plain pommy accent can have similarities with ours but then you get the ones from Liverpool etc.
We sound most like the Kiwis if any. Some have really thick Kiwi accents but others not at all. I think we, Australia, are one of the few countries where the whole place sounds the same. A lot of countries have varying accents depending on what part of the country you are in. In America, you sound different simply because you are in a different state, i always thought that was interesting.
I love it how all us Aussies are the same :p

You sound like the state you were raised in, at least for me. hahhaha. I've been out of the south - Texas - for 19 (!) years and everyone here still goes "Where in the south ARE you from?" [IMG]

What about Queenslanders? They have a real fucked up redneck accent. Still although I'm slating different accents the Irish accent isn't much better, we all talk like Leprachauns.

1: Queenslanders don't have a redneck accent, just an Aussie one.

    2: I'm a Victorian :p

3: The thick Irish accent is bloody annoying.
