    Last real blues guy?

Last time I checked B.B. and Buddy Guy are still breathing.

He was pretty good. Never really got into him much. I perfer Johnny Winter and Stevie Ray. Well when talking about the While Bluesmen I do.

I'd have to disagree and say the late, great, Mr. Stevie Ray Vaughan was the last born.. [IMG]

No one "beats" anyone in the blues... It's all pure expression..

So....you fancy Rory more than Stevie....in other words?!?! :p You know, LovelightLisa, you should start finding out more about the scandalously underrated Brian Jones.....a strong influence on young Rory, and a charismatic and brilliant musician who was treated appallingly by the very band he created. Would Mick and Keith have made it without Brian Jones? Read Bill Wyman's Rolling Stones bio to find out about the man Wyman refers to as 'probably a better musician than the rest of us put together'.

Both Rory and Stevie Ray had similarities, musically speaking, from the old stratocasters to their swashbuckling style of playing. Nor do I believe in white man's blues or black man's blues. This perpetuates the myth of black blues supremacy that far too many intelligent people buy into in this crazy, overly-PC world. All the blues players of any note were able to deliver that 'mojo', that vibe, that feel, that purity....no matter what colour they were or where they were from.

As for 'freeing beavers', I am sure there will be plenty dudes sympathetic to the cause....;)

There were both influenced alot by Buddy Guy. That would be the only similar thing.

I might have to listen to more of Rory I guess. Stevie just had a power and intensity about him that was undeniable.

And he did bring the blues back. And Rory was overshadowed by the British guys. Vaughan was like a one man gang when it came to bringing the blues.

Yay again for a Rory thread! He put himself so much into his music, you can't help but admire the guy.

My husband wanted to call our first born Rory but our cat came first and he was given the privilege!
