When you try and please everyone and you are to scared to say anything offensive... It sucks. For example, someone who's to scared to stereotype.
Saying "African American" instead of simply "black" (skin COLOR, not race) or "American." If you're from America, you're American, NOTHING ELSE. I don't fucking call myself Irish-American...that's silly.
i was watching Meet the Fockers and i realized that there are almost no new "real" hippies because i dont know know of many that would lie down in front of a bus to try and make a point, cos most everyone's too scared to be viewed as "wrong"... go ahead, laugh. . its a great movie.
politically correct people in general suck. But i don't know if i'd lie in front of a bus either, just for fear of being ran over.
When did hippies lie in front of buses? People chain themselves to trees all the time for what that's worth. I remember hearing one story about someone protesting a train for some reason I forget... and there was a Buddhist lady meditating on the train track and the narrator said she was watching her and she didn't move an inch. And then the lady just disappeared when the train came. She said she saw her the next day somewhere and she said a policeman pulled her off the track. It takes balls to have faith, let alone that much faith. I sordove agree, while I love hippies in all their wonderful forums... The uncontroversial unpolitical ones that are not evolution-oriented are wasting their precious lives and times and breath. As loveable as olhippie54 is, he is coming to mind. Thats just my opinion and current belief though.
there were hippies who layed down in front of cars/trucks/buses during the movements. i would do it if i had reason to. though I don't know of any reason to at the moment. But as I once read somewhere.. things are only worth doing if they are worth either dying or going to jail for. think about. Love. Is that worth dying for? Yes. Family? Yes. Friends? Yes. .. A lot of people say I'm crazy, so go ahead and let me have it. Anyway, political correctness is dumb. I think its intentions are good, but its just annoying. There are terms applied to people that I don't like and refuse to use, but that my personal choice.
I hate political correctedness. I really think it's backwards. Although, I usually say "native-American" since "Indian" just makes absolutely no sense what-so-ever. I despise the term "African-American", I'm actually offended when people call me such. Why differeniate me from "regular", European Americans?
does not using the word "gay" to generally describe something i dont like fit under your category of "bad pc"? it certainly is politically correct, but i dont think in this case its a bad thing.
For me is depends on why the person wants to be politically incorrect. If they are politically incorrect because they are writing a book, doing a painting, perhaps a standup comedy routine or otherwise expressing themselves in some relevant way, then I can tolerate that, I may not like it, but I will tolerate it. On the other hand, if they are being politically incorrect because they are a prick, then someone needs to tell them they are a prick.
