hhmm.. what can i say about the SF bay area... thats nice? maybe it was just me that didn't blend BUT lots of different types of people from all over. many vegetarian/vegans. lots of artist of all kinds. plenty of kind folks. plenty of rich jerks. plenty of nice homeless people. berkeley is pretty much a "do what you feel like doing" kinda city. public transportation is EXCELLENT. might be a bit costy.. but worth it since theres NEVER anywhere to park a car. sorry i'm tired.. but if you do head out here.. good luck
This is a totally absurd questions because each city is totally different. In addition, one place such as San Francisco has multi-facets. There are some people who never leave Chinatown or the Tenderloin. You're going to have to narrow your focus... or go to craigslist.com.
Well, I only lived in the Bay area for a few months and yes, they are all different places. I lived in Oakland in the hills which was sort of nice because there was more nature than I had originally anticipated (although there was more road kill than I've ever seen). I stayed away from downtown Oakland (too scary). If I craved city life I would go to San Francisco. For the longest time, I was excited to be living near SF, but after 3 months there, I had no desire to move there. There is lots to do, and many different types of people, but I found that on the whole, people were jerks and too much into doing their own thing. Nobody seemed to have the time of day for anyone else and when they did, they weren't too friendly. I did meet a few nice people so I shouldn't be too down on the place. There were alot of vegan/vegetarian restaurants, which I loved! And I did like Berkeley which also had alot of different people and cool things to do. It's definitely worth it to check the whole area out, at least.
