ok so ive read people talking about janis joplin loadsa in here but i have no idea who she is, i found one of her songs on a compilation which is really good so yeh can you please tell me more about her and any album/song recomendations?
you dunno janis? honey she's this great bluessinger, and i actually love all her songs, buy a cd/lp any cd/lp and love it baybeh!

janis had three bands: big brother and the holding company, kozmic blues band, and full tilt boogie. big brother has a very raw, wailing blues style that made it my favorite band she played with (also because it was more of an actual band than janis joplin featuring so and so), kozmic blues had a horns section and was a little more "tight", and full tilt boogie consisted of more polished musicians, although they were my least favorite band of hers. anyway, id check out the songs "piece of my heart" and "me and bobby mcgee". some people find them easier to get into/listn to than tunes like summertime and ball and chain. but if janis had had a "pretty" american idol voice, the emotion of her songs wouldnt be felt as much by listeners.
Janis died of a heroin od and a nasty fall from when she passed out from it was the official cause. janis was an amazing musician and singer, one of the great voices of all time,
whats freaky is she died at the same age as jimi hendrix and jim morrison, and all the deaths were at least somewhat close to the same time. but thats most likely just a coincidence.

janis joplin is one of my favs!! summertime is such a great song haha and yea sometimes some of her songs arent that easy to get into if they are the first ones u ever heard. i like kozmic blues its great... a little about her, well she had a hard life, a lot of self-conscienceness she had drinking and drug problems, but she was a nice person. i think she was lonely, thats just wat it seems like to me like she wanted a love in her life type thing. go to a website about her.. i think its janisjoplin.com or somethin idk but it might work. it has a biography on it. peace~
