Story about finding kittens ... pics included

Last May my family found some kittens in our basement. One day my dad was going in the basement and he heard a meowing noise, he called my brother and myself down and we watched as my dad pretty much pulled him out from under the heater by his tail. He was dirty. For a moment we just watched him crawl around on the cold basement floor. His eyes were still closed, umbilical cord still attached, and we watched as he meowed in search for his mother. We took him upstairs and washed him off with a wet papertowel. He turned out to be an orange tabbycat. My dad had somewhere to go so my brother and I were left to take care of him. We put him in a box with blankets and warm fuzzy things, with heating pad set on low to warm him up. We went on the internet to read about caring for kittens and then we realized we were going to have to figure out how to feed him. We tried putting milk on our finger to have him suck on it, but that didn't work. So we called my mom and our grandmother and they came over to give us a bottle and filled it with milk. Finally we managed to warm some milk and feed it to him through a dropper. He slept for a long time. He was so small, you could literally hold him in one hand while feeding him. That night he slept in my room and ever 2 hours I would wake up and feed him because I could hear him meowing. Just like taking care of a human baby. The next night we found 2 more black kittens in the basement. We put them in the same box as Pedro (orange cat) and it was so cute to see them all snuggling together. We gave the 2 black ones to the humane society. This is so sad....3 weeks later we found 1 more kitten in the basement. It was so small and weak. It was gray tigerstriped and it was the same age as Pedro and half of his size. We gave it to the humane society, they probably put it to sleep. It was very amusing trying to litter train Pedro and wean him off a bottle. Pedro and I are very close though, because I was the one in my family who fed him most and petted him and played with him. I think he thinks I am a strange-looking form of his mother. Here are some pics of Pedro's development. He is so fucking cute.

Awww, that cat is sooo adorable !!!!

 

aw! how sweet!! we found a "kitten" who ended up being pregnant, just bery small for her age. had 4 more kittens, found them homes and got mama fixed. mama now thinks that my daughter is her "special" child and they're inseperable. they sleep with their arms around each other. one of these nights i'm goign to get a picture of that.

Thanks....well, there was an open window in the basement we think, and that's how the mother cat got down there, she was looking for someplace warm. We closed the window not realizing the mama got stuck down there for a week until I found her in the basement one day, then my dad let her go outside.
