Hey, a group of friends of mine are planning on going camping in a couple weeks, making a nice party out of it (this is the plan), so i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for party friendly camping in ontario? prefferably within a couple hours of toronto. thanks!

Haliburton area has some great spots, some even on crown land, which are free

Algonquin park is just another 40 minutes from the Village of Haliburton, silent lake isn't to far either, the Haliburton Forest Reserve is great if any of your friends are into mountain biking.

It's pretty hard NOT to find good camping in the area

bruce national park is great too. georgian bay side is goregeous, the white rocks make the water appear to be a turquois blue, almost tropical, but cooooold! the lake huron side is warmer, and i really love spending a day at singing sands, though a little too popular for my taste. we were going to check out kilarney prov park, but we didn't make reservations and it's a popular park with limited space, so ya gotta plan in advance. it's supposed to be beautiful though. we passed through manitoulin island, but didn't camp. looks nice though, maybe next year.

oh and if you go up through the bruce penn. ya gotta check out harvest moon bakery around lionshead (it's on hwy 6 but ya have to watch for the sign on the side of the road.) they'll fix you up with some awesome homemade bread, fresh from the oven, blueberry pie, potato pasties and lotsa other stuff that i haven't had a chance to try yet. plus they are just nice people.

yeah, the bruce penn really is lovely, or it used to be. i spent a lot of time around tobermory when i was a kid. last time i was there though, there was smog! freaking smog! urgh.

smog in tobermory=no desire to ever go back to sw ont.

I don't know, that was our first holiday around here.. and it looks way better than any other lakes like this I've ever seen (besides the mountain ones someplace else)
