I have not seen Fahrenheit 911 yet but have read about several "controversial" topics of the movie. I have to admit that at first sight of the previews and initial responses from the movie I was intrigued. I was curious to see the movie to see what all the fuss was about. In the mean time I decided to do a little research into some of the claims that Moore makes, I was surprised. To be honest I am not as curious to see the movie anymore. At least not for the reason of trying to uncover some facts about the shady relationships of the Bush admin. I am curious though to see the movie to experience first hand how information can be distorted to backup ones viewpoint and support their political adgenda. What I do not understand is because of what I have just stated, why are the conservatives so worried about the impact of this movie? In my opinion, if you want people to see Michael Moore for who he really is, let them see the movie, and that is all the explanation you need.

I hear there is a movie coming out this summer called Michael Moore Hates America. www.michaelmoorehatesamerica.com
It will be interesting to compare the two movies and see how they contrast each other, but when you compare F9/11 with the actual facts, F9/11 seems no better than one of Bush/Cheney campaign ads on tv. Both are loosely based facts twisted to suit ones political viewpoints. So in the end I do not see Michael Moore as a brave independant film-maker who has the balls to uncover the grand conspiracies of the Bush administration, but rather a glutonous spotlight loving leftwing pacifist. On that note here is an interesting quote I read that was said by Moore after 9/11 regarding Bin Laden.

"Declare war?" War against whom? One guy in the desert whom we can never seem to find? Are our leaders telling us that the most powerful country on earth cannot dispose of one sick evil f---wad of a guy? Because if that is what you are telling us, then we are truly screwed. If you are unable to take out this lone ZZ Top wannabe, what on earth would you do for us if we were attacked by a nation of millions? For chrissakes, call the Israelis and have them do that thing they do when they want to get their man! We pay them enough billions each year, I am SURE they would be happy to accommodate your request....
But do not declare war and massacre more innocents. After bin Laden's previous act of terror, our last elected president went and bombed what he said was "bin Laden's camp" in Afghanistan -- but instead just killed civilians. "
    Interesting, isn't it???

I saw the movie, and to be fair it did bring up one or two good points. But the majority was clearly just bullshit (like the guy who said FBI agents showed up at his house after he said Bush sucks at the gym). Michael Moore has a way of thrweing loose information out at the audience without saying where the info came from or giving any sources. And no, some guy he pulled off the street to be in his movie does not count as a "credible source."

And you can prove that FBI agents never arrived to harass this man? You were at his house on the day perchance?

Do you have proof that the FBI did? No, because Moore never gave any. If FBI agents were really dispatched to this guy's house, there must be paperwork somewhere that Moore's FBI friend could have pulled up to prove it. That's protocol. But he didn't. If you (or Moore) can't prove that the FBI actually went to that guy's house how do we know it isn't bullshit?

somehow i highly doubt this movie would be in the theatres if the government didnt want it there. its just another tool of the american machine, being made to appear damaging to them.

the citizens think they're getting the truth from an independant source, but really it's just the same old lies with a few new twists. now everyone thinks they know the truth, while really they've been pulled farther from it.

    just more bullshit

I wouldn't lose too much sleep over it. Everytime there was a big protest in the first few weeks of the movie ticket sales skyrocketed. I bet Moore loves the protesters.

I can not outright say that F911 is full of lies, but I HAVE done some research on the internet and local campus library regarding some of the topics in the movie and I have to say that while Moore isn't exactly lying, his point is made on a very very thin line and basically comes down to how somebody defines key words he uses. I don't think Moore is stupid enough to put himself in the biggest slander lawsuit of all time, but I also think that he has one hell of a legal team on standby to define the "key words" he uses in his accusations. The trouble is, that while they are not really lies, they are said in a way that makes you believe what Moore wants you to. Enough said, I need to see the movie before I can say much moore. I mean more. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to pay for another movie and sneak into F911 though, just for the fact that I do not agree with Moore's general messages.
