I’m 50 and when I was in high school, during the early 1970s. We called ourselves freaks. It wasn’t all that different from the hippies. During the disco years I started listening to punk because I hated disco so much. Today I’m a neo-pagan, but I’m also a Maoist. Yes, we did a lot of drugs during the 1970s. It’s hard to talk about the 1970s without that subject ever coming up.
Hey there Hellbender, good to meet another Goat, mine’s the 14th . I’ve referred to myself as both a Freak & a Hippie. What's in a name anyway? Call me anything, but late for lunch. I'm happy that you finally found us. We're a varied bunch of free thinkers here on the Forums. Brother. Let me extend the welcome mat. I recently found "The Hip Forums" myself and I know what it’s like to be a newcomer. You don’t really know what to say or how to act. Read some of the threads so you can get the gist of what topics are being discussed. When you feel comfortable jump right in and get your feet wet. Nobody here is going to "Flame" you, that just isn’t tolerated here (unless it’s necessary) lol. We get some assholes here who just want to stir up bad vibes... From what I’ve found so far is that we are one big family with many brothers and sisters. Once again the doors open come on in, open up your heart and mind, put on some groovy tunes, kick back and stay awhile. Peace, Love & Great Big Hugs, DDR Quote: Frank Zappa "And now....you are going to dance...like you've never danced before!"
~*Welcome to hipplanet!*~ I usually don;t wander on the heya forum but the freak thing caught my eye...ye-ah...i'm throwing my eyes again. (Sorry badbad jk!)
welcome hellbender...I remember the freak label too, it seemed like in the 70's the hippies were all older than us so we were freaks. now that I recall, I wrote a poem back then that had a line in it that rhymed "a siren's shriek" with freak, but will not quote my poem here, it was pretty bad now that I think of it. anyway, welcome.
