http://www.euronews.net/create_html...=1&PHPSESSID=d4d4827868175afb2c697c4daf4986a9 " Eighth night of violence in Paris suburbs Young rioters have set fire to at least 150 vehicles in the Seine Saint Denis area northeast of Paris, on the eighth night of unrest in a row. Attacks on a school and a bus were also reported. Police said that around the capital there were fewer incidents overall than on Wednesday night. They attributed the relative calm to the presence of around 1,000 riot police. They have been patrolling areas hit by the unrest, which started after rumours that two teenagers who died after entering an electricity sub-station had been chased by police. Yesterday, as an investigation concluded the rumours were wrong, Prime Minister Dominique de Villepin told the Senate that violence would not prevail. He said: "I refuse to accept that organised gangs lay down the law in certain neighbourhoods, I refuse to accept that criminal and drug trafficking networksprofit from this disorder, I refuse to accept that the strong intimidate the weak." Villepin has struggled to end cabinet squabbling over how to handle the disturbances. Yesterday he and Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy met mayors from the affected areas. Meanwhile a mosque spokesman from one affected town repeated the government's appeal for order. Imam Mohamed Hassi said: "We're asking everyone in Aulnay and all our brothers for a return to calm. We won't get anywhere through violence." On Wednesday shots were fired at police and fire crews. Authorities hoped festivities ending the fasting month of Ramadan would calm rioters, many of whom are of North African origin, but last night there were incidents in other cities including Dijon. "
Things still hot. I sure hope Bush doesn't plan on visiting France. That's all we need. http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/europe/11/05/france.riots/index.html .
yeah that's crap and it's sad, but it would've been better if Nicolas sarkozy the interior minister didn't say that the suburb people were ''vermine ''..
Keep up mindless violence/destruction of property..with no political rationale.. yeah wooow keep that shit up.
What the fuck are they protesting exactly? The high crime rate they produce? The government not giving them enough free money? The high unemployment rate they are mostly responsible for? Most of them are Muslim and African Immigrants that take Frances genourosity for granted. So the French deserve it for being pussies and not knowing when to say enough is enough.
well, you've got a crowd of young men with nothing better to do since they can't get jobs and then you call them scum for doing the very things that such young people have always done when you don't give them anything better to do. they wreak havoc. it's pretty simple, i think.
RE: well, you've got a crowd of young men with nothing better to do since they can't get jobs I couldn't get a job for almost a decade. I simply went to school more than once, shouldered yet more student loans, made applications, and eventually went where there actually was work. Not somewhere where the handouts flow like water. Of course France is going to acknowledge that it's the fault of the French that they were torched and burned. This will lead to near-constant rioting every time they want more money, preferential hiring, etc. NEVER negotiate with a terrorist or a blackmailer.
Yeah, well, when you don't speak French, have no education and in many cases no legal immigration (e.g. you're undocumented) it happens/.
from what i know the police are really corrupt and the people living in those poor neighborhoods are sujected to police check points everytime they leave and come into their neighborhood.
Wow! There's a lot of idiots in here! So unemployment justifies rioting and property destruction??? You people are fucked in the head.
Police are corrupt everywhere. That's no excuse. It's also justified for the checkpoints. The police are in a double bind - if they try and curb drugs they're harassing people, if not, then they don't care about the people. Here's an article on the whole thing. Problem is they imported the Africans to do jobs that no longer exist. http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/World/2005/11/08/1298140-ap.html
RE: So unemployment justifies rioting and property destruction??? According to Europeans and our resident Muslims, yes. And if you disagree you're racist.
