Excellent, shanks British schooling system first 10 years-twiddle thumbs year 11-work for GCSE's (important) lower 6th- based on GCSE grades, do AS level/B-Tec/GVNQ etc Upper 6th- do a-level easy peasy lemon squeezy
Alberta [cant speak for the rest of canada] Grades 1-12=twiddle thumbs, but in grades 3, 6, and 9 you have PAT's [Provincial Acheivement Tests that are super easy standarized tests worth about 20-30% of your mark] and in grade 12 you have Diploma Exams that are the same as PAT's [just a little more difficult in size of them] but they are worth 50% of your mark
Oh yeah, and for the record SAT = Scholastic Aptitude Test, and there's also ACT, basically the same sort of thing, but some places require one over the other, like here everyone takes the ACT, in Texas it was the SAT. And for normal school stuff it depends on the state, like in Texas we had the TAAS test every year (Texas Assesment of Academic Skills) it was a ridiculously easy to pass standardized test that lots of people somehow managed to fail anyway. Errr... I'd say finish highschool, you can do alright with a GED (Good Enough Diploma ) But you'll need to be able to discipline yourself and such regardless.
I'm getting my GED and moving onto college. Start in January. In fact, my school that I'm getting my GED at, pays for my first class at college. In today's society, an alternate diploma can amount to the same standards as an advanced, as long as you keep moving on with your education with some type of college.
Yeah, in Georgia you have to take graduation tests (one for each core subject) and you have to pass them in order to graduate. And is the SAT for english and math and the ACT for science and geography, u just decide which one u want to do or if u want to do both according to what u will be studying in college or whatever. Im not sure about that but thats what i have always thought. And yeah, u can do alright with a GED, its looked on as almost the same as a high school diploma these days. Im just gonna go to a community college and get a degree in something to back it up so I dont have just a GED, I also have something more to fall back on. Im just sick of high school to be honest with ya. aha.
I wouldn't drop out and get my GED. It'll definately hurt you in the long run, seeing as how some colleges don't accept GEDs, and many schools out of the country (if you wanted to study abroad) don't even look at you with one.
I heard your grading over there is ridiculously easy. Anything under 70 here is failing. How about over there?
Well I cannot comment on the current school system. However, I dropped out of school on my 17th birthday - joined the army (dumb move - do not do that) and got my GED (General Educational Development) after the army I went to collage. They looked at my ACT scores and did not blink at the GED. I cleped out of half my first two years and ended up with a master’s degree and a nursing license. Therefore, I do not think a GED will hold you back too much. Even though my guidance counselor in HS assured me that, my life was over once I dropped out. (Grin)
home schooling.. hrmm... fuck me in the ass. Horse shit. Home school will get you no where because no Republican dickhead will accept some bullshit homeschool degree. Trust me, every business owner upon the East Coast is a dickhead republican... not that I find all Republican dickheads to be horseshit... some actually go beyond my standards. I've lived long enough and understood enough to understand that a GED is not hurtful to your career. I've worked hard manual labor for a full year straight without break. I understand that a GED is better than that. I can gain more by doing something rather than nothing. I don't want a kid but if I got the money, what the hell, why not produce a kid. Keep the Universe dying... Intresting comparison........
well, it looks like you're one of the lucky ones on the 10 point scale. it varies, but i think the majority of us are on the 7 point scale.
damn, there's a such thing as a 7 pt scale? i've had the 10 pt scale my whole life n never even heard of anything else...
Under 70 was failing where I went, I heard here in AL it's under 50 But err.... If you're gonna go to community college, then you should be fine.
