It has struck me that it is a year since John Peel died and it has just struck me how many people he actually touched... the young and the old! John Peel still lives on and its like he always will! RIP MR. PEELY!!
i cant believe its been a year since john peel died i must be honest i rarely ever listened to him on the radio, but he was a vitally inspirational charictor and is dearly missed you've only gotta find an album with "john peel session" on it to realise how wonderful he was, and there are prehaps more john peel sessions around than anything else... rip indeed
Yes, he was a lovely man and is still missed, radio will never be the same again. There was a good evening of programmes on Radio 1 to celebrate "Peel Day" and that seems likely to become an annual event. That makes you realise just how important he was to music. His unfinished autobiography, completed by his family, has just come out. It's called "Margrave of the Marshes" and I can't wait to get my hands on it. Keep it Peel!
Like all of you above, I can`t believe it`s been a year since John Peel died. I still can`t believe he`s dead. He was and always will be a legend. Damn, I miss his radio show
Is it just my imagination or has the UK's alt music scene gone seriously down hill since Peel passed away ? Radio 1 has certainly lost its best and most important show
I cant believe its been a year either. I remember hearin about it on the radio and it dont seem like its been that long! But yeah, he was a great DJ. RIP <3
Hello Been a while since the day itself, but where we were the man seemed honoured in fine fashion. Me and a couple of friends took in a tribute gig and a nightclub dj with Peel's greatest hits. There was a wonderful atmosphere everywhere we went which I think definitely had something to do with the type of man John was. Many of you have probably heard already, but just in case...John's son Tom is launching an internet music club type thing (www.johnpeelmusic.com) - It's not open yet so I don't know how they'll go about it, but certainly worth a look. As for the radio, obviously it's a poorer place for having lost John, there was no way in the world they could of replaced him with someone of the same calibre. But they're trying to keep the new stuff coming bless 'em.
