I think this is where I should post this! Hi guys, I registered partly to let you know about a social experiment I'm running. Please check it out here if you value the ENVIRONMENT and SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY! GO DOWN ON A HUMMER! Check it out! I'd love to see some more pictures from you guys. I KNOW a lot of you will appreciate this link, and I HOPE a lot of you will help my gallery grow! You can read all the details at that link (totally safe for work) Thank you! I love this forum already. -Carl
I hate Hummers just as much as the next Hummer hating person, but I really don't see the point in this. If you want to change people's minds why don't you write a very lengthy and informative article explaining why Hummers suck and post it on your website? I doubt posting pictures of people giving it a thumbs down or a fuck you is going to change the minds of any Hummer owners. Just a thought...
two thoughts on this: 1) No one reads long articles. People like pictures. Pictures are easy and accessible. 2) People who buy HUMMERs are influenced by what other people think, because they like to be popular and have cool things. If enough people show disregard and disapproval for HUMMERs, they won't be cool any more!
welcome carl, please continue to contribute here! On a culture jamming list I'm on, someone was asking for ideas about stickers for hummers.... I thought take the same font and change the H to a B bummer.
Pardon the hyperbole there, but the best way to get people to change their ways is not to forbid it (war on drugs, anyone?) but to encourage the thought that it is unpopular for logical reasons.
Wouldn't that be great? If anyone wants to send pictures of that I'll put them up there too...haha...double entendres are fun
If you read the article you 'll see that the original HUMMER gets between 10 and 15mpg, whereas the H2 gets (I THINK) around 18-22mpg. Not much worse than other SUVs, but there are other safety issues as well. Their higher bumpers (for no reason) make them MUCH more dangerous to cars, while their large blind spots and small windows make them more dangerous to drive. edit: HEY, I've gotten a couple of submissions! Can I expect any from you guys any time soon? :sunglasse
I share the same passion for hating of hummers. I drove an H1 in the desert, but it was a deisel. (deisel gets better mpg anyways) But in the civilian world I see no place for them. As soon as I got back from afghanistan I got my wife a corolla, 32 city, and 41 hwy. Then I got myself a CBR, which gets 50-75mpg. Also am general never intended the hummer to be fuel injected because the EPA MPG would be too poor. Thank god for GM though, reinventing the hummer, and making it unsafe for the average person the pull onto the road.
hey, thanks for those comments airforcedrew! very cool. i totally support the HUMVEE being used by the military - like you said, the diesel one is more efficient plus they actually used it for what it was built! sweet bike - they really are fantastic for fuel economy and efficiency. i'm looking forward to some thumbs-down pics from you guys soon!
Hooray! I received a couple of new pictures over the weekend. http://warehouse.carlh.com/article_040/
:thumbsdown. This is an UNCENSORED forum. "If we don't believe in freedom of speech for those we despise, then we don't believe in it at all." - Chomsky.
Hummer in a Hummer does sound like fun, but....ehh, i do receive a trickle of submission photographs but it's really slowed down. Guess I shouldn't expect anything from you guys, huh? Bummer, hummer.
They are ugly, gas-guzzling and pretentious. And the people who tend to drive them are assholes. I see them all over Washington DC, with big chrome brush guards and 16 fog lamps mounted on the roof and on the bumper and I think "Dude, where the fuck are you going 4-wheeling in that thing, Anacostia?" FYI-Anacostia is basically a large swamp surrounded by uber ghettos.
