Antioch College in Yellow Springs, OH is one of my first choice colleges. Has anyone here ever been to Antioch ? Or do you know of any other liberal arts schools like Antioch? Thanks Peace and Love
Antioch is a really cool college. My brother goes there, and from what I can see, everyone is really cool and interesting. Be warned, though, that it gets boring fast. The stores all close at, like, 5:00, and then there's nothing to do but drugs and eachother (hehe). From what I hear, the co-ops are amiazingly fun, though. Just go wherever you want, have whatever job you can get, or get a job you want, and just go party and live in all kinds of places. My brother now has such a great idea of what different parts of the country are like and now he's gonna be going abroad. Anything specific I can answer for you (or ask my brother about)?
i have visited a couple of times, I like the town and the students, but i don't like the way the college is set up. You would be in school for 5 years. "School" is in session for almost the entire year, because of the co-ops. You constantly would have to make new friends due to the co-ops, and they have no grades. Some people like evaluations more, and I can see where they can be a postive thing, but no marked grades can make it very hard to transfer. I really loved this school at first glance, but when I looked into it more in depth it wasn't the school for me. However for some people, this is their ideal school.
Yeah, I hope I get accepted because I see that they only accept like 70 students per year, but I don't think that many people know about it. I don't really understand exactly what the co-ops are?? The campus looks really nice though. What is your brother's major?
they accept anyone who shows interest. If my memory serves me correct, you go on three co-ops a year, each one in a different location around the country, or could be abroad, and work a job that is assigned to you. The other quarter you are at antioch studying. Correct me if I am wrong.
That sounds neat, I've always been interested in studying abroad, I'd like to go to India and Thailand someday. Do you know of any other colleges that are similar to Antioch - as in the liberal arts aspect, or any other colleges you recommend I look at. Do you know if Antioch's Visual Arts program is good? Peace
Hey, Antioch would be a great choice. I have been there many times, you have John Bryan state park, along with many neat shops and great people, along with their yearly festival. If I could choose to go back, I would have gone to Antioch.
I've seen pictures of the campus and it looks really beautiful. Are there any other schools that are similar to Antioch?
Well Antioch REQUIRES one term abroad, which I really like. And the campus is beautiful in its own, unkept way- on big visiting days, the grass isn't even mowed- and there is graffiti RVERYWHERE. They really aren't too concerned with looking nice. You might want to look at Evergreen or Hampshire for schools with no grades and different ways of doing things.
