Marilyn Monroe was once considered to be very beautiful and sexy but by todays standards she would be chubby. How come way back when, it was hot to be vulumptious but now the worlds most beautiful women are 90 pound super models?
I don't know...the only people i consider fat would be types that are diagnosed as obese... and call me shallow but i do get kinda weirded out when i see a 300 pound person walking around in a tube top and hot pants
I know lots of guys that are fine with women over 120 pounds...it may be because that is considered healthy and not overweight ...well actually im not sure how over 120 pounds you mean but 120 is pretty healthy unless youre 2 feet tall
Societal Rule : Womyn are expected to stay with the times when it comes to fashion. If they don't look like the 80 lb models that we are presented with in every area that we see,we are considered wrong / ugly / fat, and in many cases not real womyn. That's why there is so much diet diet diet talk. Womyn are spending thousands, close to billions to achieve this so-called "beauty." People are literally dying to try and fit the mold that society has built for us. It is damaging to womyn, men, children. It kills us inside and out. Almost impossible to avoid these images either. I believe these false "ideals" can be changed by bringing out as much awareness of this problem as possible. We need voices to speak against this. It's horrible and it's killing womyn & young girls. Those models are NOT real & barbie is bad!
It isn't just these days that women are conforming to ridiculous standards of how to look. Remember corsets?
people are really superficial...but in real life, not many adult women are 90 lbs. and i think that's a good thing. I dont' think people are actually 'fat', unless they are at a place that's unhealthy kjhippielove88, i love your slash sig
Yuck! These impossible standards make me sick! I mean, it is okay to have some meat on your bones, right? I'd call it healthy, not fat. (well, at least to a certain point). I mean, if you were to get sick it'd be nice to have some weight to fall back on, right? All I have to say is MARILYN MONROE RULES & TODAY'S SUPER MODELS DROOL!!!
Let's not forget the myn: washboard abs, broad shoulders, highly paid. Each gender aspires to beautiful, everyone wants to shag a hottie. If people are dying to fit some role, that's the individuals problem. society is excessive, and easy to blame, but they put forth only that which we all crave. I can't say I have much sympathy for brainwashed anorexic gyrls, or myn, or scrawny people, unless they have no food; seems the problem is their silly, one-dimynsional view of the world. put down the stupid Cosmo, stupid, and hug a fat person already will ya... a lot of them are good people.
People are people are people are people. In the end it really doesn't matter what the person doesn't look like it is their frame of composite thinking and what lies within their minds. Yes, I know there are many drug-induced-opened-minds in this little porthole on the internet, but you just don't come across material too often that isn't alike nor unalike than a certain person at a right level and I do have to say i'm sure than many of you do not have a single clue of what I am speaking of and I grin at the thought. Getting back... It all goes back down to three things and three things only. Politics.... Religion/The creation or evolution of people... Money. You all have your theories, many follow a certain backbone in religion... others such as myself have their own theories as far as what is relative to the creation and of evolution of what has become your average human being. Ok, first of all. Nobody know why life was created. It's just so simple. It had to be created at one point and maybe not by a creator itself but directly or indirectly accidental... and it moved on to become something bigger some parts moved ahead some stayed behind... some are caught in the crossfire such as our president, George Bush. Ok, it all depends on a religion or a belief here... If people were created and or life was created... why is it there. And what has it become. People work each and every day to make their lives capable of living within a certain point and some even compete with each other. Some struggle to look our best.... make the most... have the best lives per se within a definition of your own of "what is a good life"... And some think it's so simple that such things as "creation" for people to breed and continue such as a chain linked game or survival is what it really is. no no no no no... it is so simple and people are just caught up in what they see around them. Talk about open-mindedness. You don't need drugs to see that. You need a certain complex or simple (however it is viewed by yourself) mind to break through inaccesible windows to logical information... You probably do not have a clue at what I just said or where i'm going at with this so I will execute it here. Good night. ~ George
Back when marilyn monroe was the ideal beauty no one had enough money to buy food soo that they could be a size 14, and these days people have enough money (generally speaking) to be a size 14 but society says that is ugly. I guess people always want what they cant have.
Society's standards freakin suck man. I'm so sick of hearing about all those diets that are out there. Whenever I walk in the store now all I see are these packaged foods with labels saying low carb atkins approved or shit like that. And that's all you hear about on the tv and radio. All the commercials are for weight loss stuff. And same with magazines. I think people should be happy with what they have and quit trying to change themselves to be something that society considers beautiful. Why would someone really want to weigh 90 pounds? That is so unhealthy. I'm also so sick of seeing and hearing about all of those models that actually do weigh about 90 pounds. They're all mostly anorexic anyways so why would you want to strive to be like that. People with anorexia can actually end up killing themselves from starving to death and they are depressed and just really screwed up. And people arent oblivious to this. Most people know that these models are unhealthy and anorexic yet they still work their asses off trying to look just like them. People should know better..
i understood what he said, I think. he mmeant to just live how you are supposed to live to be healthy, dont give a fuck about what the mainstream media says is hot. i find "real" gurls more attractive then barbie dolls anyway, if i can see a gurls ribcage then its kind of a turn off
Yes, yes, yes What i'm getting at is it's much simpler than people think, yet obvious to many once the point is spoken. It's all about money and the succeeding in one's life.... because to some it overrules a religion and or politics.
I once wrote a paper on this in my first year of college...because at the time on the tv all you would see are these dancing belly buttons for a blue jean commercial with all this girls with skinny middles...the media glamorizes women who are very skinny, and it makes young girls think that is how you should look..every time you open a magazine that is all you see...but in actual reality real women have curves...when i was younger i remember always wanted what my best friend had...and she always wanted what i had...because in our mind the other one always looked better...but our bodies were completly different...but yet some how we both ended up coming into our own and loving what we had...now we are both struggling with the after effects of our birth control weight...still happy with what we gained...but still feel presured to be skinny again...
Hi All, I just kinda wandered in here to see what was on the younger folks minds and i am so pleased to see you discussing this... As a former fatty(300+) and someone who has been talked about and pointed to and laughed at, its very nice to see so many realize that we all have beauty in each one of us...we all have something to contribute and no one knows your story unless they take the time to get to know you. I believe alot of the snickering and teasing are done out of fear...people are surrounded by all this media hype about somehow being "less" of a decent person because of our physical attributes that they are afraid to relax and "see" others for what they truely are, they fear that if they are not "on top" of being thin then they will be looked down on to.... they also are afraid to stand up and say it really doesn't matter, some people have curly hair, some..big noses, some..nice hands, beautiful smile, bad teeth, dreamy eyes, skinny butts, big tummies....blah,blah,blah...but we all are here, to help, support, love and share with each other...get to know each other for the type of people we are..."yeah,she's fat..so what?...is she a good person?...is she nice to be around?...can I learn something from her?...is she a good friend?..can i be a friend to her"These are the things we should be concerned with when viewing another person..not how much they weigh. Any one who is concerned about this...please...the next time you see someone sitting in the lunchroom alone at your school. ask if you can join them..if you see someone new at your school..offer to show them around and introduce them to some friends, if you know some one who is teased about their weight..ask them if they could use someone to talk to.... I did lose a bunch of weight and did not do it by dieting...I just decided I wanted to be the healthiest I could be...so I make the healthiest choices I can and I walk my dog every day plus some weight lifting and resistance exercises...if you eat healthy and get some good exercise every day the rest will follow... But in the meantime everyone should just be the best person they can be..no matter the physical stuff. love, light, and good health to all of you, teepi
I dont think there is anything wrong with being over 120lbs. However, I do think if you are very unhealthy and your eating habits/weight are not helping you in anyway, I feel you should do something about it. I mean it's good that some people are comfortable w/themselves no matter what, but I think it's important for people to stay healthy. I duno that's just my thought on the subject though. _maggie_
Look at the Renaissance. When they were fat by todays standards, but considered beautiful then. I like these "fat" chicks. Most of the time, they are'nt obese women, but normal sized women(120-200) who are short. It's really as simple as that. They are skinny, but they are short, so the same weight has to go in a smaller space. They end up looking fat when they're really not. It's ashame too, because a good good friend of mine was like this, and she could never really loose weight(that she did'nt need to loose in the first place) because she was just short. That's what I've been doing for the last month and a half. I just finally got fed up with feeling tired and sluggish all the time, so I stopped eating all that crap. People don't need all this diet shit and exercise machines, they just need to stop eating all the chips and soda and ice cream and mcdonalds. I really don't even exercise that much, I just eat good and walk once or twice a week to keep my metabolism up. Thats really all I needed to loose the weight I have.
nothing wrong at all with a curvy lady... thats all perfectly natural. as far as the cultural thing goes... compare latin and american advertisements for, say, wel, anything. anyway, latin spokesmodels (or whatever the ladys that are in ads are called) are generally "voluptuous", where as the american(white) spokesmodels are like rails. i added (white) to that because most african american models are "voluptuous" like their latin sisters. ya know, maybe its just a white thing... its cool to be starved! that olsen chick says so anyway.
