this may sound totally strange, but I actually like the French, I don't know why, but I loev been in France, especially in a small French town where families are out together outside cafes at night and will stay there for hours and hours, i love it. However i may be have just gone to a handful of beautiful places in France.

    Come to Ireland!!!!!!

If you are looking for a country FULL of natural beauty with less people why dont you think of Ireland? We are roughly the same size as England with less then one tenth of the population. If you go to the East of Ireland it is the same as England both Geographically and culturally (as this is where the English based themselves when they rules here for 700 years), but its the West that is Ireland's REAL gem.
In the West, the land is quite rocky. This means that it is not very good to work on, but it produces OUTSTANDING natural beauty, and due to the fact in the past it was harder to live on, to this day much of it remains untouched. When Cromwell came to Ireland, the bastard gave the Irish 2 choices, he said "To Hell, or to Connacht", (Connacht is the name of the Western province), so as a result of this and that it did not seems as attractive a living option, the West retains more traditional Irish culture then anywhere in Ireland.
If you decide to come here, try go to an area called a "Gaeltacht". These are the Irish speaking districts over here, and (as a result of everyone wanting to become "advanced" having to speak english and thus move to an english speaking area) these areas have remained amongst the most beautiful and culturally rich on the island (but remember they are also often the most remote too).
ill post a few pictures here for you to have a look at:
    http://www.inishbofin-hostel.ie/images/landscape.jpg
    http://www.connemaralanguage.ie/ballynahinchriver.jpg
http://www.screebehouse.ie/imageupload/landscape12.jpg (the rock walls you see at the back of this house are a VERY common feature to the west of Ireland).
Unfortunately due to the excesses of Hollywood and "IRISH-American" tourism (ie a bunch of Americans that like to think they are irish for 2 weeks in the summer and go around dressed in brightly colored shorts and t-shirts, despite the fact it is pissing rain and cold enough to freeze over hell, and doing other things by which they unwittingly undermine the culture), our culture (even in the west) is eroding EXTREMEMLY fast. So i ask that if you or anyone ever DOES think of going to one of our gaeltachts, they should not try to be a local while wearing OBVIOUSLY tourist clothing and shrieking in a LOUD american accent (or any other accent). Rather lay low and observe how people are acting and try to fit in.
Irish generally are the friendliest people in the world, even today. It is the land of "Cead Mile Failte" (100 thousand welcomes), and regardless how u act people will be friendly, but if u take that extra step and just try to blend in, i think it would be appreciated and respected to no end.;)
    Peace and Love

I loved Amsterdam, I always said why go over there to be stoned? As i was always stoned here, but i went as part of a college design course, so we checked out the art and museums (stoned of course) i loved it. I wouldn't wanna live there, but great to visit.
It's always strange when i meet foreigners who just love the UK. My mate steffi is german, she loves it here and has always wanted to live here, now she does.
I'm getting the wonderlust myself, i'm gonna save up and travel, and work abroad.
Hey Lisa, i love your red hair.
    peace X

    That's a nasty cough!
Ireland is as good as IrishHippy, says, cork is a great place for a night out, they get great gigs there. Me and friends went cycling around in ireland, camping wherever, farmers don't seem to mind you trespassing like they do in the UK. The people are great, and so is the wilderness. I bet you'll be able to bring your dogs somehow.

I know what you mean, it's hard to save but we live in wealthy countries. If you've got no dependents (appart from dogs) you can save a little, even in crap jobs, and travel where you want. If we were in the third world it would be almost impossible. Aren't we lucky? I'm trying to convince myself too, i'm just realising i'm not trapped at all! I wanna see japan, go trecking in New Zealand, i want to do lots, and i can if i want! hurray!

    Ireland is the best :D

What we have going for us is our healthy population of faeries. Go to the west and you'll be sure to find someone who can tell you all about them. I got the woods behind me and the beach down below and all around is fields high and low :D I need a tweed cap and a pipe next :D

Look on the diggers and dreamers Uk communes site.... Chances are there will be a place there if you pursue it.
