Locked To The Couch A Salvia Divinorum 5x Extract Experience Set & Setting- I was in a pretty good mood, with nothing really bad going on in my life, and I had just recently gotten off probation. To prepare, I turned off the ceiling fan, opened a window, turned off the lights, turned on trippy Sigur Ros music, and put music visualizations on my computer. The room was dark except for the glow of the computer monitor. I sat on my couch in front of the computer and began. The Experience- I lit my first pinch of Salvia 5x extract in my tobacco pipe that was equipped with a homemade tin foil screen. I took a few hits, emptied out the ashes, and loaded the bowl again. I didn’t feel any effects yet. I smoked the next pinch and reloaded the pipe once again. By now I am feeling a little relaxed and am quite fascinated with the trippy displays on the monitor, but the effects are very mild. I took a big hit or two from the third bowl until it went out. I did not feel like relighting it at all, or doing anything for that matter. For a while, probably a minute or two, I just stared at the computer screen. Finally I felt the need to finish off the bowl, so I did. I then put the pipe down and began to be annoyed by the distracting computer screen, as well as the music. I wanted darkness and silence, I wanted to trip. So I got up and turned the distractions off and went back to the couch. I laid on the couch on my stomach with my face buried in the couch. Then for god knows how long I laid there in perfect comfort, not bothered by anything physical at all. I didn't move as I had no desire to. I felt pretty stoned. But after a while, about 5-10 minutes, I began to feel physical discomfort again, such as itching. It was with the return of these sensations that I figured the wonderful "couch lock" was done. So I got up and turned on the light. Upon standing up I was disoriented and unbalanced, and a little slow. I cleaned up and turned on the fan to get rid of the smell. By that time it seemed all the effects had worn off. It wasn't what I expected, but it was still interesting. It's also worthwhile to note that in my other salvia experiences, I also experienced the same annoyance with external stimuli, such as music. Experience took place on November 3, 2005, at around 11 pm
sounds good man, did you use the proper smoking method? if not, try it next time and attempt a breakthrough (if thats what your after)
i would first: -get a bong -get a torch lighter put the salvia in the bong, and burn it nice and good, and take a nice big hit, and hold it in your lungs for as long as you can, but generally 20-30 seconds works for me, make sure you have a torch lighter tho
a bong is also a must, i think at least, some people say the torch lighter doesn't make a difference, but in my experiences it for sure did
I use my own extract and a long bamboo pipe. The torch or a really good lighter is an absolute necessity. Two hits held for twenty seconds and I am taken to places that i cannot even identify....good luck and be patient. Some times Pastoras takes a while to warm up to you.
i never use a torch, the shorter the pipe the less you lose, my pipe is 2 inches long. I find sessions after flicking my bic very therapeutic, if I used a torch I would probably have to be hospitalized for burns. if you have a bigger pipe you can certainly use a torch (might even have to if you can't get a good pull through the long path to the bowl) and it should work fine enough, however the smoke might be quite hot from the torch - which is not necessary. to cool it down, you may be inclined to have more tubing or ice in the contraption, so then what happens is that you begin to lose good salvinorin to condensation on the tubing walls or even onto the ice cold surfaces. my reccommendation is to worry less about the tools, keep it simple and small scale even if you can buy a torch cheap, you will save money on salvia extracts if you smoke them in a short pipe with regular lighter.
The moisture level in the mix is also very important and mostly overlooked. Very dry material simply burns hotter. I bit of moisture lets the mix burn cooler and the volatiles are carried away in the smoke easier...something akin to steam distillation. At any rate, fresh extract with a bit of moisture does not torture your throat like bone dry extract. I still like a long stem, though. My pipe stem is almost 18 inches long and 3/8 of an inch ID. Another way to boost the salvinorin content of straight leaf is to use a large pipe bowl and NOT smoke the entire bowl. Save the char and resin soaked leaf in the bottom of the bowl and keep working it back into the mix each time. My first success came about that way.
