oooOOOOoooo......we dont talk about that place anymore..lol.....I got to thinking the other day.....When ever someone mentions hell, I always think about someone burning for eternity in terrible torment, bu is it really that way?.....naw man.......Somebody asked me, how can Jesus give a message of compassion and then torture those who dont believe in him for eternity? adn it really got me to thinking, because i had no answer since the churches oday often do not preach about what hell is.
I have studied and decided that hell is not a place wher you burn forever.....hell is eternal separation from god....YOU do not burn....Your spirit is burnt up and is no longer present. hell is when you soul dies ....the torment comes from that second before your soul is destroyed when you realize that God IS real.......I do not explain it that well, so I will leave this link here. what is hell

...thanks, I'll take a look, it's a good theory but...

My friend had a REVELATION of hell before and discribed it, saying also that 'it feels more real than Earth itself"

And Three authors wrote about a revelation of Hell. ( "Devine revelation of Hell",
"Heavan is so real!", and " 40 days and nights in Hell" are the books' names) The descriptions are extremely alike, making it, in my opinion, authentic-

And my friend went to Hell before those books were even written.TWICE.
    It's absolutely NOT a pretty place. :(

And yes, burning is involved. :(

    ( still a good theory though, - I'll check it out )

I guess the reason why we don't talk about it much is because we don't want that
" Christianity is based on fear " bull...

I did not read the link but you are right hell just is death. We all, well most of us will "go to hell" if this is the case,YOU ARE YOUR SOUL. When you die your spirt or life force gos back to god.

where is your hell then? In space somewhere? where is down in space? how do you have fire in space? where is heaven? when jesus floated into the sky, which way did he float into space? is he still floating till this day?
as if to say you actually know this, and youre giving us a reality check.

lol...is He still floating till this day? XD
HAHA, that was actually pretty funny. :D

Jesus floated towards heaven, I don't know which way He took, how am I supposed to do that?

Personally, I believe those realms could be anywhere, - even in/on/above Earth. They just run on different frequencies.

This, however, is not Biblical. :p

Should I know? I don't know where we are![IMG] [IMG] (umm--- earth, duh, but I don't know the frequency.)

I still have that bit left from being a New Ager and studying 'Astral Projection' and all.[IMG]

Surely god can come up with something better than burning for eternity, how cliche.

    It really wasn't that.

Place with God | Place without God
    Heaven | Hell

When God left one place and Hell formed, love didn't stay there.

"Whoever is without love does not know God, for God is love." [1 John 4:8 ]

That's what begot the hatred and evil, and flames. God didn't directly create them, it was a side effect.

I didn't actually require that, I was joking.

I don't believe in god or hell.

Sounds like a common western interpretation of Hell. But is that what 1st century Jews would have understood Hell to be? Probably not.

The descriptions of Hell do not relate to physical pain and torture, but of torment, agony, and weeping and gnashing of teeth. These are 1st century descriptions of someone who has been publicly shamed.

    Consider this:

    1. God is in the position of highest authority, of the highest good, and is therefore a being of the highest personal honor.
    2. All sin and evil are therefore an insult to the honor of God, a disregard of His rule and authority and an honor offense.
    3. Any who commit sin/evil, therefore, are degrading God's honor and status. Because this honor rightly belongs to God, it must be restored.
    4. God's proper response is to require the shaming and punishment of those who degrade His honor.
    5. Jesus Christ underwent the crucifixion, a "status degradation ritual," in our place.
    6. As a corollary, one who accepts the payment offered by Jesus ought, sensibly, to be aware of this price that has been paid and respond accordingly. One who does not respond accordingly, we may suggest, is not appreciative of the paid price and may not truly have accepted the gift.
Regarding the crucifixion, note that nowhere in the NT does it refer to the pain of the cross, it always references shame and humiliation. Pain, for the 1st century Jews, was, at best, a secondary issue. Shame was far, far worse (much like feudal Japan).

As such, Hell is not a place of eternal torture, it is a state of being where humans who have dishonored God are, in turn, denied the honor and status afforded to being human. In short, God treats those people with indifference. They are aware of their state and their shame. This awareness of their imperfection and shame drives them from God the same way magnets of the same pole drive each other away.

that is really not much different than what i was saying...my whole point was that hell is nto a place of eternal torment....it is a place of eternal death....eternal death meaning, youre soul is dead it is separated from God for eternity. The shame comes from knowing on judgement day that you no longer can change your mind and be with God...........This second part is not for you alsharad or anyone who responds to peoples posts like a mature person.........You come into a christian chatroom an post something, just something you hasve been thinking about....and then the christians try to eat you alive for it......why? Cant we allll just get along? lol.........peace.

Eternal torture, no. But torment? Yes. Utter anguish. This is beyond mere embarrasment, this is having all honor stripped. Remember, honor is not an internal quality, but deals with how others see you. The unregenerate have all eternity to bask in the glory of the One who can fulfill them, complete them, satisfy them, and is completely indifferent. They cannot flee His presence, yet they cannot have any sort of relationship.

Not really. It is bestowed as equitable punishment for dishonoring God. Shame is not self-imposed (like guilt is), it is imposed by other people.

I am not sure that just the Christians try to eat you alive. We can't all just get along because people (meaning both Christians and non-Christians) are generally mean-spirited, egotistical, rude, illogical, and very, very opinionated.

I had a revelation of heaven.. there was no Hell. But heaven was very interesting. For me it looked like a nebula.. magenta like the Horsehead.. but no stars in the blackness around it. And it was very peaceful and I was very content. There were many others there and yet we were all one even as we were all individuals. Very different, very nice.
