I usually never cry when I read books.....actually I never cried because of a book... but I just finished Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince...and I was practically bawling...I mean, that was sad. so...which books make you cry?
Death from Child Abuse...and No One Heard a horrible true story - makes me look hard at every little kid
Just some parts...some parts are like damn, that really happened? that's sad... or wow that rocks...that book evokes a wide variety of emotions
ricochet river by robin cody - greatest novel for a youth ever written. i have not read the new "revised" version but i gather that the revisions didn't hurt it - this is a popular book in oregon high schools. the story of b by daniel quinn - vision is the river, and we who have been changed are the flood. i'm not quite there yet...someday. this day all gods die: the gap into ruin by stephen r. donaldson. the epic conclusion to the 5 book gap series. the only sci-fi book that can give me chills reading it. and unlike most series, the gap books get better and better with the 5th being by far the best. when i was a kid, bridge to terabithia made me cry too. i doubt i've read it in 15 years and who knows - i might cry still if i read it now. any good book leaves me with a sad feeling at the end, but these are the ones that really choke me up.
Ricochet River was a popular book in Oregon Highschools? I never read it, and in fact, have never heard of it. What's it about?
its a coming of age story in a '60s logging town. if i had my copy handy i'd quote a few passages - most of the chapters tend to start with a short bit of folksy wisdom that is a lot less corny than it sounds. for a better review see amazon
I Know This Much is True by Wally Lamb made me cry so bad it hurt. The Pact by Jodi Picoult also did. There were also a couple of books about cancer that made me cry cause I lost my dad to cancer 5 years ago and they hit a little bit too close to home. Those ones were My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult, and Errands by Judith Guest. I'm sure there were more cause I'm a big crybaby, but those are the ones that come to mind.
the outsiders. we read it in school last year. it was an amazing book but it made me cry. sigh. i love the greasers. R.I.P. Johnny
i definitely cried while reading the outsiders......but i cried in THIS LULLABY by Sarah Dessen and WHERE THE RED FERN GROWS...i cry while reading a lot of books but these are the only ones i can remember right now :0)
Return of the king- by J.R.R Tolkien. The end was soo sad, I cried and couldnt stop. Then one czech book, sure you have never heard about it. by Jaroslav Foglar
The Half-Blood Prince made me cry the first time I read it, but it was only a couple of tears, but I read it again quite recently and because a close family memeber of mine dieds a few weeks ago, the end had me bawling. Also Affinity by Sarah Waters, I found it a thoroughly depressing book and by the end I couldn't take it any more.
When Rabbit Howls by the Troops for Trudi Chase made me bawl like a baby and gave me nightmares for months.
