Hendrix or Page?

who is better jimi hendrix or jimmy page my friend and i are in a little argument so if you would answer it would be nice

Well, it's basically an opinion, but I would say Hendrix. He's a psychedelic god.

 

i used to think hendrix but now i think bot are equal but im still thinking i mean jimmy page has more variety but hendrix as lucifer sam said is a god

 

Yeah, don't get me wrong, Page is amazing, but Hendrix is... a step above. There are a lot of "amazing" guitarists (Jeff Beck, Pete Townshend, Eric Clapton, Lou Reed) but Hendrix seems to be in a whole different building.

 

page is easily the greatest riff writer ever. however, hendrix was an excellent performer, did some amazing things, and got incredible sounds out of a guitar.

What is the point of comparing the two? They are very different from each other.

Obviously, they were/are both good at what they did/do.

To me, Hendrix was the true visionary of the two. Hendrix had a style that was truly his own, whereas Jimmy Page's style is very much rooted in the blues, and to a much greater extent than Jimi's style was.

I am not saying that Page doesn't have a unique sound, but Jimi's was far more unique. Plus, he was something else that Jimmy Page is not, which is a great songwriter.

I think its clear, well at least to me that Hendrix was better. I dont really care about whos better with instruments and such, i think it matters more of just who you like more, their style and such. theres lots of good guitarists i like that arent as good as Hendrix or Vaughn.

 

I like Hendrix more, his music is more...original. But Jimmy Page's hair from the 60s and 70s beats them both

 

i Personally like page more but i listen to led zeppelin a lot more than hendrix i still have great respect for both of them though and eric clapton

 

I think Robert Fripp is bette rthan both of them. Well, at least as good as them. I think Hendrix was a bit better than page so I think Fripp was at least as good as Hendrix. TOTALY different style though of course.

hendrix is so overrated as a musician. he was amazing, and he was an incredible PERFORMER. but by no stretch of the imagination is he a better songwriter. zeppelin transcended any definitions of genres, they played fantastic musi in every style possible.

And I love them both just the same.

 

I like Jimmy Page's style better that might be because i listen to Zeppelin all the time.

 

this is a stupid topic. Jimi could perform at will. Page was sloppy live. Both awesome.
