Really, I'd say only get an electric if you know you're going to play with a band. If you're going to play by yourself, an acoustic is definitely the way to go. Of course, if you get good, you'll surely want an electric no matter what, even if only to play around on it. I just couldn't see someone performing by themselves with an electric guitar.
aha yeah i kno what u mean. but like you said, IF i get good, then i will want one to play around on it...not garunteeing Im gonna get an electric but Im just sayin I might later on down the road.
i have but i prefer preforming solo with acoustic now more the electric...back when i was starting, i was more into "playing whatever the hell i can, at as fastly as possible, and loud as i could"...its still fun to do that, but now i know what im playing
Yeah, sure. I mean, if you keep playing, you'll definitely end up getting an electric, even if you don't really want one. I've been given two electric guitars. It seems that a LOT of people have old guitars sitting in their closets and whatnot, and when they hear that you play guitar, they're more than happy to give you theirs. Or, at least that has kind of been my experience.
aha well i hope thats my kind of experience too! i'd much rather be given one than havta shell out for it...ahaha....
my family is lame...non of my relatives play guitar, or music of any type, so i have to get everything by myself
Sorry, Paul. Haha, I haven't really been given THAT much, though. I mean, I found this old, crappy, cheap electric at my grandma's house, so she let me have that. Then my grandfather gave me a pretty cool mid-'60s Kalamazoo electric that I actually like a lot. That's all, so far. He said that he wanted to give me that vintage J-200, though, which is worth a ton. None of my family members are into music, though. My dad used to play guitar a long time ago and I guess he had a band for a while, but he never plays anymore. My grandpa I guess used to be a pretty good player and used to perform, but he can't really do it anymore. He's not healthy enough. My uncle has a lot of instruments, but I don't think he plays any of them very well. So yeah, that's about it. I really don't have a very musical family.
My first acoustic was an acoustic/electric... it was only $150, and its still the best 6-string acoustic that I've ever played. . I love my guitar. My first guitar was an electric but I rarely ever touch it anymore.
what!what!what!. when u begin playing guitar for the most part its easier to play electric therefore if u start with an acoustic u could get discouraged cus its harder.
i have played for ten years....started when i was 8 ona classical guitar which is harder to play than an acoustic if you are an 8 year old with tiny fingers.........I would say start with acoustic and learn it well, because then you will have no problem with electric, also you can tak ethe acoustic with you everywhere which will be easier when you start playing/ learning with other friends.
