I have done them in the past, like ten years ago! it's not too hard!

You need some colored threads, I think about four times as long as the hair you're gonna do (maybe test that, I am not so sure anymore) then you hold on to the middle, and tie it to the chunnk of hair. Then you just start wrapping the colors you like around the chunk of hair, keeping the other threads in the middle.

Aw man, hairwraps are so awesome!!! I had one put in my hair 9 or 10 years ago, except then it was all a new thing to me, so I paid to have it done. Darn thing cost around $22(eh, I had long hair back then too and I think the charge was 75 cents an inch). Anywho, after then I dedicated alot of time in trying to figure out how to do them. Embroidery floss is definately the way to go! I'd recommend getting a variety pack that you can buy at "big box stores"(Walmart) for about $4. You'll have alot of variety and will be able to make as many hairwraps as you want!

I usually get one every year at the Ren Faire. However we didn't go this year. My wrap from last year is still hanging in there but it's beginning to look pretty bad. I wish it was only $.75 per inch. Mine was like $2.00 per inch. I think I paid $58.00 for my last one. But like I said, I've had it for over a year. It really needs to be redone. I tried to wrap my daughter and my granddaughter's hair but it came out in about an hour. I guess I didn't secure it very well.

These were all the rage when I was growing up in the 80's. LOL I had several, but I didn't know you could have left them in for longer than a couple of weeks. My mom always acted like they were supposed to be temporary, only a few days, then you snip the end and unravel it to take it off. Now I think my mom tried to make me believe that so I wouldn't keep it. Anyway, I loved having them but they always seemed to make the hair around them tangle, as well as the hair at the top if there was any.

I never paid for any of them, this was one of those things that girls did to each other. Like braiding hair. If I remember correctly there was also this toy/machine thing that did it automatically. Hmmm maybe I'll do one just for old time's sake... :p
